We had a nice meal here. The staff were friendly and attentive, the decor was nice, the food was okay. To be fair, I am not keen on too much grease, so someone less fussy might rave about it. The prices were okay, though not cheap. To be honest, I didn’t especially enjoy my visit, but apart from a very sticky table, I can’t really fault it.
We stayed in the holiday cottage next door, we ate here nearly every night! The food is great, the staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, even though they were busy. I would recommend this pub to anyone who wants a good friendly atmosphere, and perfectly cooked food, and plenty of it, good value for money. Will definitely visit, if we're ever around that area again.
We called in on the way past and asked for a table for 12, the place was busy, but they moved things around and were brilliant. Service was excellent, food was served quicte quickly and everyone said it was great and would return. The guy that was possibly the manager was excellent, he actually took charge of the service himself and was great fun, having fun with everyone and nothing to much trouble.
When seated in the restaurant side, i found it very unusual, having to order my food and drink at the bar when there were 3 waiters standing about in an empty restaurant. Staff friendly enough just found that very odd. The food wasn't great. Peppercorn sauce with sirloin steak had clearly split and was very off-putting to the eye. Steak did taste a little off also, regret now having not said anything as I didn't want to ruin the meal for the rest of my party.
Food took a while to come, but when I realised it’s because the fish is actually a whale. It made sense food was lush.Food: 5/5
I do like this pub. Lots of memories of great north bike rides and stopping here to rest. Motorbike trips up the coast and lunches on the way. The atmosphere is great. The staff are friendly. I didn't like the chips that's much...and that is my only downside. I prefer them to be crispy. If your passing by pop in. The food choice is also good and reasonably priced.
Decent scran, mint spot for a pint, outdoor area is good Port of call when up the coastFood: 4/5
Beautiful pub. Staff were helpful and friendly. The food came out quickly, even though they were quite busy. Our meal was tasty, all 5 of us enjoyed our meal.Food: 5/5
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere. Busy traditional pub setting. Staff are friendly and coped really well with how busy it was. Food was amazing. Definitely do this again. Thank you to all the staff and chef
Went for a family meal as a party of 6. Food was delicious, the service was excellent and the beers were good. We had a great time and would go back again. Kids portions are very generous and tasty. Plenty of options for drink and has outdoor seating if the weather is nice.Food: 5/5
