Story

The White Lion Hotel gracefully combines ‘olde worlde’ charms with a contemporary look and feel. We offer 15 comfortable, unique hotel rooms including four poster beds and family rooms. Guests can also make use of the function and conference facilities as well as the restaurant, serving quality fresh food sourced from the best suppliers. The pub remains the heart and soul of the White Lion Hotel and food is our speciality. The exceptional environment, combined with a fantastic menu, excellent fresh food offer and superb drinks selection means you won’t be disappointed. Diners and drinkers alike can also enjoy one of our many real ales or wines selected from around the world. The town of Tenterden itself has been described as ‘the Jewel of the Weald’, with wide tree lined streets, Tudor buildings and a host of specialist shops. Out and about there are picture postcard villages to explore and an abundance of historical landmarks, including the renowned gardens of Sissinghurst Castle and also Leeds Castle, set in five hundred acres of parkland. Hotel accommodation room rates start at £93.95 including our fantastic breakfast. Please note that from May - September and bank holidays, Saturday is a minimum of two night's stay (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday) Corporate rates are also available, please contact us for details

Rang last minute yesterday, which was a very hot Saturday afternoon.nThey happily book me a table for an hours time for 13 people.nWe all arrived and were seated in the rear of the restaurant, doors all open with a nice breeze.nWe are a mixed party, adults and children and the menu suited us all.nThe service was quick, easy and very polite, the waitress was really on it and was quick to help us get ordered.nThe foot came out quickly and was lovely. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dinner. A firm favourite was the fish, chips and mushy peas.nWith parking out the back, it was really easy with a larger group.nWe will definitely be back
A really nice stay at the white lion with very friendly staff and nice setting. Positives would be location and warm friendly staff. Less so positive but by no means a negative was the room we stayed in was tired and needed a fair bit of attention to cleaning detail.nParking was great and on site and a perfect location for the steam railway station with only 4 mins walk.nFinal point maybe find somewhere less public area for your kitchen colleagues to smoke .. we chose not to eat in the restaurant when seeing this.nMore positives than negative so hopefully constructive feedback
We booked the Sunday “special” and it looked very good, hope over experience didn’t work. The room we got was tired and in places need better cleaning. The website shows a modern clean lines room well no.nThe wall behind the bed had groves, where at some point it had been dragged. Now that I could have said that might have happened recently but the cupboard door and skirting boards plus walls were well worn so suggesting no proper maintenance.nThe bathroom was ok but had a shower you had to crouch in and a shower curtain that must have been 2 foot too long. Dim lighting and a failure to clean behind the door and a hole above the bath didn’t help.nHowever, staff were all very good and Angel in the restaurant was very good. Food was a lot above what I was fearing with the other short comings. Really enjoyed it.nAll in all a pity as the offer plus location would make this a great place.
The room was spotless with quality toiletries and a very comfortable bed.nThere were little extras that I wasn’t expecting - a coffee machine, an iron and board and an electric fan.nDespite being above a pub, there was little noise and the location was perfect.nEveryone we spoke to at the pub was helpful and friendlynVery happy with our stay
Very lovely hotel. Cozy room. Great housekeeping and service. Special thanks to Beth and Marie for being super flexible and making sure we start our days properly!
