Story

The White Lion Hotel gracefully combines ‘olde worlde’ charms with a contemporary look and feel. We offer 15 comfortable, unique hotel rooms including four poster beds and family rooms. Guests can also make use of the function and conference facilities as well as the restaurant, serving quality fresh food sourced from the best suppliers. The pub remains the heart and soul of the White Lion Hotel and food is our speciality. The exceptional environment, combined with a fantastic menu, excellent fresh food offer and superb drinks selection means you won’t be disappointed. Diners and drinkers alike can also enjoy one of our many real ales or wines selected from around the world. The town of Tenterden itself has been described as ‘the Jewel of the Weald’, with wide tree lined streets, Tudor buildings and a host of specialist shops. Out and about there are picture postcard villages to explore and an abundance of historical landmarks, including the renowned gardens of Sissinghurst Castle and also Leeds Castle, set in five hundred acres of parkland. Hotel accommodation room rates start at £93.95 including our fantastic breakfast. Please note that from May - September and bank holidays, Saturday is a minimum of two night's stay (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday) Corporate rates are also available, please contact us for details

A convenient place to stay when visiting Chapel down winery. The rooms were ok, bed was comfortable and clean but the bathroom was quite tired. The breakfast was decent for the price. Service was quite slow when waiting to check out. Overall would recommend it for just a 1 night stay if visiting a local winery.
Dropped in with some friends to grab some lunch and drinks, prices were very reasonable and the food was enjoyable.nWe had dogs with us and they provided drinking water for them which is a nice touch.nService was quick and the staff were friendly, unfortunately I cannot give more information about the hotel or interior as stated we sat outside, however, when I went in to order the food and drinks it looked very pleasant.nWould visit again in the future.
Stayed for one night on a bank holiday weekend as we were part of a family celebration, also at The White Lion. The rooms are well equipped, clean, with plenty of character and are a very good compromise of old building and the limitations of a listed building, and modern living standards. Although looking out onto the High Street and a live band on the night, we were not disturbed by any noise once we went to bed around midnight. The evening celebratory meal with a group of about 20 in the separate function room was much enjoyed by everyone. The food was nicely presented and very tasty. Staff were helpful and very friendly.
I met a friend here for dinner and I have to say the service is great, the food is lovely and the atmosphere is really good. We’ve met up 3 times over the past couple of months at the same place because it’s this good. Today we shared a Brie, bacon and onion chutney pizza which was divine. The sticky toffee pudding was incredible and my friend had a rhubarb crumble which went down very well too! You get service with a smile here too and it’s really friendly. Bev was particularly good this evening but we’ve had a few different people deal with us over the visits and they have all been brilliant. I also went to a music bingo night here with a few friends and that is a guaranteed fun night out! I’d happily recommend this pub :
Stayed here whilst seeing my father who was staying in the area was throughly impressed with the place, team members were friendly, food was incredible very surprised had both dinner and breakfast here and full compliments to the kitchen team and management. The room was nice as well though the mattress was a tad firm for my liking just a preference not gonna knock off a star for that. Really lovely property will definitely stay again.
