The White Lion
The White Lion is, and always has been, a traditional pub. It has previously been names as a heritage inn by Tetleys for it's long history and internal decor.
The pub dates back as far as 1781 when John Hasland was the Innkeeper for well over 20 years. Since then it has had many numerous Landlords, including such notables as Jonathan Woden - who was a famous 19th century cricketer - and Billy Mardsen of 1930s Sheffield Wednesday fame.
Scattered throughout the pub's various rooms and annexes you will find many pictures and documents which relate the history of The White Lion, all of which add to the ambience and make an interesting read.
The current management and staff team are dedicated to keeping the authentic feel of this magnificent pub alive by creating the warm and friendly atmosphere that real pubs are all about.
