Stayed at the White lion a couple of times and will be booking up again soon for later in the year....Good food.... friendly and helpful staff and owners..... single ensuite was more than adequate....clean tidy and comfortable..... Keep a canny cold pint of Carling also.
Everything was Fine, the room was tidy and had Everything you Need. Went there without reservation and had a Great time. Staff at the bar and the entire Hotel was superb. Thanks a lot
I booked the White Lion based on the reviews and photos and was sadly disappointed. The photos do not accurately reflect the state of the rooms and I can't quite figure out why this hotel is receiving 5/5 ratings. The place is shabby, the rooms were dusty, water stains on the walls, bare box springs on the beds, very thin and old towels, and old couch with a smelly blanket theown over it and a moldy shower curtain. Not at all what we expected.
Rapid service from a kindly bar person. A nice, relaxing pint of Neck Oil. Well - at half-one on a Thursday afternoon, anyway. Also saw a beer garden and a decent conservatory, although I didn't use either as I was happy where I was listening to the locals talking about horse racing and the coldness of the weather.
If it's close proximity to the Newhaven ferry you're after, this is an ideal place to stay. Lovely staff, quite old fashioned hotel but all clean and well cared for. Good breakfast. Pet friendly too
