Now a member of the Mitchell & Butler Vintage Inns the menu was standard stuff.
For a Friday lunchtime tables were readily available however, Fish & Chips were not!
I had the ham, egg and chips. The ham was thick cut and very tasty, the chips were passable as a little undercooked in places and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Perhaps a portion of peas or a few more chips would improve this as I seemed to be left with a sizeable amount of ham. My companion had the pie of the day with mash and vegetables. The puff pastry was decidably undercooked in places but was well filled if a little dry - a few extra helpings of gravy helped here! The portion, although plentiful, was marred by totally overcooked carrots and cabbage but at least the mash was passable & tasty enough.
The floor service was good although food a little slow.
All-in-all OK but wouldn't rush back.

A few years ago this was a wonderful pub with welcoming staff and excellent food. Over time the menu declined and all the friendliness slipped away... It is so sad to see as the place has so much potential. I gave it one last try, ate a mediocre and overcooked vegetarian meal, and watched the staff try three times to light the fireplace using newspaper. The last straw was when they added a plastic ketchup bottle (which simply melted and smoked before the fire went out!) There is little chance I will return... Just a few drunken regulars remain, which brings the place down further.

Lovely pub, I had the roast turkey which was cooked excellently. My husband had the beef and mushroom pie, which is massive. Very friendly staff. Would definitely eat at one of these inns again

Only popped in for a quick pint. Seemed a nice place though. Beers were good. Staff friendly. Place was clean.

Nice place and staff. Shame about the food.
All I could taste was the burnt flavour.
Ask for mayo to hide the taste, that came in a jar. Dread to think how many people had been digging around in it before me with used knives and forks.
Nice way to spread some germs and give people food poisoning.
Do the decent thing if you insist on using a jar, give the table a clean utensil, so they don't have to use the one they've had in their mouth.
