The Wheatsheaf
"We are a small, family-run pub tucked away in Old Glossop. As a small team, we work hard to make sure that you enjoy your visit here; we provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, a variety of drinks, delicious homemade food and a friendly service. Since August 2018, we have worked hard to renovate the Wheatsheaf in order to make it a country-style pub that everyone feels welcome; men, women, the young, the not-so-young! We think it is important to have a little place where you can go to to catch up with friends, meet with colleagues, reunite with family, or simply to take a break from a hectic day, and the perfect little place to do so is The Wheatsheaf."

Loved the cute and cosy ambiance. Had the most cheerful loveliest young lady serving us called Alia, she made our visit very enjoyable. Compliments to the chef Dane for the juiciest beef burger, well seasoned steaks, crunchiest fries and best onion rings I've ever had. We will definitely visit again to try the mediterranean dishes.
We dropped in for lunch after a wet windy walk to the B 29 wreckage site. Meet by a very nice member of staff who took our drinks order and seated us. She came and took out order and was very enthusiastic about all the food on the menu. We went for the Greek Platter for 2 on her recommendation. It was the best Greek food I have eaten outside of Greece without doubt having visited many of them in particularly Kefalonia. On arrival the food was superbly presented and smelt delicious. The Chef should be commended for his culinary skills. Another member of our walking gang had the Chicken, Bacon and Leek pie which was wolfed down in double quick time. This pub is a hidden gem made all the better for the excellent service of the Young member of Staff who was enthusiastic about her job, travelling, Greece and textiles. Well done. We will be doing more walks in the local area having found such a great watering hole in very near future. Well done Team Wheatsheath.
Unbeatable staff create a fantastic atmosphere. Never had a bad meal but if i did. You know what. I'd probably forgive them they are so nice.
What a gem of a pub! We really enjoyed the friendly service with a personal touch, despite it being busy on a Sunday and only two staff serving. As well as the classic Sunday dinner four choices of meat, there was an interesting and varied specials board, which included a vegetarian option that didn't sound like an afterthought. Our meals, from soup to desserts, were delicious and came in generous portions. Would highly recommend.
Great place for authentic and proper pub food. The chef is very friendly, just as those serving food. Very generous servings, I recommend the pulled pork burger and fish and chips... To finish with the sticky toffee pudding!
The staff are friendly, the food is really tasty and reasonably priced. A selection of pies, burgers and other grilled specials. They also do some currys and spicy treats. The atmosphere is really pleasant and it's dog friendly. Handy when stopping by after a hike on the hills. Also, a twelve minute walk back to Glossop train station.
Amazing little pub. Very welcoming, the food is absolutely stupendous! Have the cheesecake for dessert you won't be disappointed! The cheesecake is world famous in old Glossop. Leonard is so attentive to all his customers needs. So this said the customer service is second to none!
Lovely pub with great staff. We were made to feel very welcome. We had the sharing platter for two and it was delicious. Ordered the bread & butter pudding for dessert and that too was excellent. We will definitely return and we would highly recommend you try it too.
Fantastic food fantastic atmosphere brilliant took the Mrs & the place was welcoming nice friendly people
This pub has great food and a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Had a delicious Greek salad and Mediterranean hummus here today. The pub has a great choice of food if you want something light or a bigger meal.
