The award winning Waterside Bar:Restaurant in West Kilbride is the "must visit" venue in Ayrshire. Stunning water's edge location, excellent menu choice, private gardens leading onto the beach. Brand new Si! Shack concept at the Waterside where 'posh fish 'n chips' will be on offer. Second phase developments includes 20 bespoke bedrooms with wedding, conference and banqueting in 2014/15. Part of the family owned SimpsInns group.

On arrival we were seated quickly. We visited specifically for the gluten free fish and chips and we were told this was available. We ordered only to be told the gluten free option was not on as they had run out of batter. We ordered an alternative which arrived speedily. The quality of food was average, unusual for this venue as we have eaten there before and it has always been good.

This is my husband and I's favourite eating place, worth the 50min drive to get there! Reason - location, feel of the place, choice of food and prices. If it's a lovely day, sitting outside at the back of the restaurant gives you a feeling of being someplace much further than West Kilbride. Inside is themed really nicely with certain areas having a different feel to others. Menu choice is great - with option of light bites (cheaper, smaller portions to suit small appetites, seniors) and regular menu. We haven't had a bad meal here. Definitely worth a visit.

Gorgeous outdoor area with stunning views. Had coffee and scones and decided to come back later for dinner with some of the family. Huge disappointment, mass produced canteen style food which was cheap and nasty and in no way was worth what we paid for it. Chicken tempura was huge batter pieces with tiny slivers of chicken, scampi was cheap frozen rubbish and tandoori chicken tasted like it came from a jar or packet. No quality check carried out. Shame because staff were pleasant but once we were served food never saw any staff after that. Good for coffee but don't waste your money on dinner. ☹️

Lovely stay in a very pleasant setting, nice room, decent breakfast and would definitely come back! One problem was the noise from adjacent maintenance room, a loud rumbling noise. Not conducive to relaxing evening. Stopped at 10pm so probably extractor fans from kitchen. We've mentioned this to reception but bit defensive so avoid room 320 or specify this when booking.

Love the waterside, the decor ambience, food drinks service and lovely staff. I hope to have my wedding here in the future.
