A lovely place…my daughter and I discovered it a few years ago and still enjoy visiting when in Ripon.nCustomers service is good and the good we had yesterday was lovely.nI’d recommend booking as at 1pm it was pretty much fully booked. If you want to daydream or just watch the river then ask for a window seat as that side of the pub all looks out onto the river.nEqually if you just pop in for a drink you can sit outside & then like we’ve done before, sat over the bridge and let our children paddle.nFrom the pub it’s an easy walk into town and I’m no big walker past the cathedral and into the market square.
Nice outlook by the river, with Ripon Cathedral in the background.nVery efficient service. The food was tasty, especially the sticky toffee pudding I would have preferred custard with mine, but only a selection of ice creams is available.nThe restaurant did feel a little cold but it didn't spoil our visit.
Visited for the burger night. All the tables by the waterfront were reserved or taken. We took an available 6 seat table elsewhere as no small tables were free. I purchased drinks and we ordered burgers. A couple sitting at a large table by the waterfront finished their drinks and left. My wife went the bar to say we were moving to the now vacant waterfront table. She was told that we couldn't sit there in case a party came in we were already occupying a table for 6!. We ate our food, complained about the poor hospitality and left. Not bothering with deserts or more drinks. This is not Yorkshire hospitality at it's best. Maybe they can afford to lose customers. We regularly stay in the Ripon area but won't be troubling them with our custom again.
Called in for lunch on Saturday. The fish pie & Sea Bass were lovely.nFriendly, helpful staff, dog friendly and decent beer. There was even a bowl of water by our table for our dog when we arrived.nThere's very little parking, you have to park on Bondgate Green.
Lovely place. Very popular for Sunday lunch. They cater events too, Birthdays, fu eras, christenings, I've known them do soul evenings too.nLovely personable, friendly manageress & staff.
