Went to the Water Rat for lunch today - it's Friday, so special offer of Fish & Chips for 2, £19.95.nHubby & I agreed this was the BEST EVER fish and chips- perfect fish-to-batter ratio I hate too much batter, best chips ever, friendly service, great choice of beer & wine, lovely city views of the Cathedral .....nI wish I lived here, this would definitely be my local
What a pleasant pub. We were visiting Ripon and wanted a nice place for a pint of good ale & good food at reasonable prices. I can safely say that all these “boxes were ticked”! On top of that, as soon as we entered the property we were made very welcome. We would certainly visit this pub again shame it is so far away for us . Hey ho. Carry on doing what you are doing. Stunning riverside location with excellent views of the cathedral. Most daytime visitors appear to be here for food but the recently Cask Marque accredited pub is well worth calling in for a beer. Just a short riverside walk from the city centre; it’ll be a shame if you miss it.
This is the perfect place for a lovely meal out. I had booked a table for nine family members to celebrate my mum's birthday. The food was delightful, and the service was outstanding. We were seated near the window, which offered a beautiful view of the river. My family doesn't often have the chance to go out, but we will definitely make time to return to the Water Rat for another meal.nThank you so much to Holly, Dylan, Fin, and Beth for making my mum's birthday very special.
Went here after a day at Ripon races. It was booked by one of our party, none of us had been here before.nThe food was outstanding. Staff were great. Just as we were finishing our meal, a DJ popped up and we had an 80s disco. Good move by the management as everyone stayed at their tables and the party got started. We didn't end up leaving until very late. Cracking night. Everyone was in good spirits, having a good time. Will definitely go again next time we're in the area
