The Vines

About

Nestling in the picturesque village of Black Bourton, TheVines’ traditional stone exterior promises a warm Cotswold welcome. Ideally located for those on business in Oxford, Swindon, Witney and Brize Norton.

Story

The Vines Restaurant and Bar were famously designed and decorated by John Clegg of the BBC Real Rooms Team. It is stunning and quite different to what you might expect from the beautiful Cotswold stone and vines exterior.

Stayed here this weekend with a friend. We had a lovely stay, staff are all friendly, manger was lovely and he made us feel very welcome. Lovely setting with wild life on your door step, comfy beds and a beautiful breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay again and recommend!

A wonderful place to spend a night or a weekend. The kindest owner and staff. I will come back for sure.

Stayed at The Vines overnight during the week. Arrived late but was still able to check in. Had a room in the rear building. Not very modern but it was clean, had a tv and fridge. The mattress was far too soft for my liking but that's a personal preference. The bathroom was a wet-room and was set up for disabled use. Oddly it was a large bathroom but to sit on the toilet meant you almost had to have your legs under the sink, the shower was on the far side of the bathroom but without a shower curtain to stop the water from going all over the bathroom floor. I had breakfast which was ok; a continental breakfast which you could help yourself to and cooked breakfast which you can order. The most frustrating part of my stay was the lack of good WiFi. I informed reception of the problem and was told that it is normal because the hotel is in the countryside, I've never heard such rubbish in my life and felt a bit insulted - it was clear that the WiFi infrastructure is very poor which meant I want able to do work or skype my wife (the mobile phone signal is poor in the area). I gave it 4 stars as although the room had its flaws it was relatively cheap. It is certainly not what you would expect a 4* place to be, I would say it had the feel of a 3* hotel with (nearly) all the amenities that a 4* hotel should have.

The room was well equipped, the staff were tremendous however I was freezing! I asked the staff why the room was so cold and they advised me to turn on the heating, which was already on, it turns out the heating was broken, I could see my own breath
