We met here for a family dinner. I chose the steak salad bowl it was divine! Massive portion. The pub is opposite Warner's Gin. It is child friendly with fish & chips plus sticky toffee pudding for £10. The kids loved it. There is an outdoor play area along with lots of outdoor seating. The pub is a family pub supporting local producers. A lovely find. The service was a little slow but it was a midweek meal and they were training new staff.
Friendly, attentive staff, good, tasty food, children warmly welcomed, and lots of colouring activities immediately brought out for them. Service was prompt and staff were always available but without being pushy or in the way. We visited for my mum's birthday, which was mentioned on the online booking and staff were quick to wish her a happy birthday. We had hanger steak and burgers, fish and chips on the kids menu, beer, cider and desserts. The hanger steak wasn't quite as good as I've had elsewhere, but equally, it wasn't bad. And the portions were a nice manageable size which makes a difference to wasteful huge portions.
Idyllic country pub. Son has just moved to Northampton so we travelled down to see him from Yorkshire, he looked online and found this beauty. We visited on a sunny day and wish we'd arrived earlier to have drinks outside because the views were amazing. The food and service were great. I had pie which was delicious although didn't come with much so be sure to order potatoes or chips. My husband and son had rump and hanger steak. My husband said the steak was a little tough but on the whole enjoyed it and was cooked perfectly. My son said his hanger steak was beautiful. Ordered extra onion ring and these were superb!! Find it a little weird they only do Coke Zero especially given that not everyone likes artificial sweeteners. All in all though a lovely day and meal celebrating my sons birthday
We had a table for 3 at 8pm. It’s the first time I have ever been to you. I started with one of your signature drinks, spritz berry I believe, well, that was just delightful. We then we’re moved into the resturant section by a gentleman that shown nothing but respect to us 3 ladies even offering us a hand if we needed it. We were then greeted by a lovely girl who was as respectful and on point with all aspects of service I’m from a 4 star hotel so I’m very bad at picking up on service, it’s annoying . All staff made the experience very enjoyable and overall just really nice. And then we move onto the food… well, just yes is all I can say. I started with the prawns and then had the hanger steak with the slaw and onion rings. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!! To the point where I took a lot home and have just reheated for lunch and it was still amazing! So thank you chefs! I have told my partner that he is bringing me back and we are going to have a feast Thanks to all that made last night wonderful. You are doing an excellent job.
Stopped by for Sunday lunch today, and it was delicious I will be thinking about the wild garlic butter for the rest of my life. Though what really sets this place apart from the rest is the customer service, the colleagues are fantastic and really made us feel welcome. Nice touch with the doggy roast dinner too, our dog absolutely wolfed his down in record time. Will definitely be back, please keep the garlic butter on the menu forever.
Great service, amazing location and building. Food was good but some complaints. Steak was good quality and well cooked but under seasoned and wild garlic butter had too faint a taste, almost tasted like regular unsalted butter with a slight grassiness. Definitely would have preferred some kind of regular or roasted garlic butter. Chips and onions rings were great but no regular coca cola only coke zero, bizarre.
Just a great place to be... The atmosphere is chilled, the teams are always an absolute pleasure! Very accommodating and kind! I got my order wrong on my latest visit and the team were so good to amend it without fuss, free of charge as annoying as it must have been . The food is always amazing! Will instantly give you that heavy-eye tiredness of satisfaction depending on what you desire. Great drink choices, the prices are great as well. Will be back soon!
What a fabulous experience! Great service and lovely food. We were looked after like we were the only people in the pub. Superbly attentive service with a genuine smile. Good choice on the menu. Thoroughly recommend The Tolly. Thank you very much.Service: 5/5
We were staying the night at the Farm Stay next door and ended up at The Tollemache Arms for drinks and dinner. What a brilliant place - one of the most enjoyable overall dining experiences we have had in a very long time. Beautiful old inn in a lovely rural setting, very comfy inside with exactly the right decor, great people providing perfect service and wonderful food from an excellent menu. They even sell fantastic New Zealand wine by the glass. And all at very reasonable prices. We absolutely loved it - and can understand why it’s an award-winning place. Outstanding. Visitors from New Zealand.
Went for a Sunday roast today and it didn't disappoint! Good value for money and delicious food served by very attentive and friendly staff. Can't wait to go again!Service: 5/5
