I recently visited this pub, and it was a terrible experience. The bouncer at the door was incredibly rude, treating us with disrespect right from the start. Inside, the atmosphere was dreadful – it was noisy, poorly lit, and lacked any sort of welcoming vibe. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable night out. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Limited menu not as per website, but what we had was nice. Fairly quiet, but it was mid-week early evening. Edit: in response to owner query below - our group had some disappointment that menus previously found online were not available, but they may have been old. From the current menu shown at the bar, there was no corned beef today for a friend's toastie. What we ate was nice though, arrived prompt and was nice and hot. The lady serving at the bar was helpful and friendly too.
Very disappointed. We are out with a party of five and the bouncer picked on our friend. He made her walk to several lamp posts almost as a game to let her in, claiming she was drunk. She is our designated driver and has had nothing to drink tonight. It became clear he was doing this for his own enjoyment. We will not be returning again.
Massively over priced, poor food, flat pints, nobody here. Wont be coming back. £15.50 for 2 pints of Heineken and 1 corned beef toastie.... and this is what came. Id complain normally but in a hurry and i cant be chewed walking down a flight of stairs.
Bouncer very misogynistic. Wouldn’t let my friend in because she was “drunk”, humiliated her by making her walk to the lamppost and then said she could go into the pub. We rejected the offer because of this. Bar had no atmosphere anyway, it was quiet on a Saturday night. Disappointed and frustrated.
Excellent pint. Very dubious about some of the bars in town with regards to real ale but the Telegraph didn't let me down. Gorgeous, full flavoured, clean glasses and not badly priced. No idea about food but the ale and service was tremendousService: 5/5
