Having used the Sussex coaster for many years.now being told it's closing down in 4=6weeks tottaly gutted as this is my local now to be bulldozed and another block of flats to ad to the most congested 259road in Sussex.shame on Lewes council to allow this to happen.did not get this under the conservative councillor he would have blocked this and stuck up for the local residents.

Took my Wife and kids for a Sunday roast at the lighthouse which is adjacent to the sussex coaster, No proper menu of what is on offer for the roast just had to ask the waitress ...also no children's menu no drinks menu ...you just have to ask. We should of seen the signs and left then. Instead we decided to order the lamb roast for me and my wife and the kids had sausage and chips. The food came out very quickly as it wasn't busy which is also a bit worrying for a Sunday lunch time offering a roast dinner 2 course meal for £8.95. The food looked ok when first arrived but soon realised the lamb wasnt cokked , when I say wasn't cooked i don't mean pink I mean undercooked, tough , chewy , grizzly that you can't even cut with the knives they provide. We sent it back immediately and asked to change for the chicken, which again came out very quickly( pre cooked food nuked ). We both began to eat there second attempt and was basically mush on a plate covered in gravy, then to find a blue hair on the cabbage topped it off for me but I didn't want to send it back again as it was embarrassing for everyone. Instead we just left it and then asked what ice cream they had for the kids ...they had to check what flavours they and then came back to say they had none left. We paid our bill in full and left. We both began to feel very unwell and my wife was being sick as soon as we returned home. I wasn't happy about this as the whole experience had ruined our day so I went back to the so called restaurant to explain I wasn't happy and that my wife was being sick...I popped my head in the hatch of the kitchen to explain my complaint to see the chef with blue hair and no hair net serving up slop on a plate...I then noticed the state of the kitchen which I wouldn't send my worst enemy to eat from if I had of seen this before ordering we would of left without hesitation. I tried to tell the chef or whatever she was that my wife was ill from eating there food which wasn't fit for a dog. She said she ate the lamb and lamb is supposed to be pink and she served us more food, I wanted a receipt for the food and she wrote it on a post it note. Refused a refund and told to go away as there was customers in there. I have never wrote a review on anything before but I feel people should know about this as it's disgusting food and customer service and as for the kitchen I've seen cleaner bin stores. I've tried to keep this as nice as possible but this establishment should not be serving food and is not run properly ...just to say I didn't actually want a refund just wanted to point out what was wrong and give comments as I have family who have proper restaurants.. no health and hygiene certificates to be seen anywhere. Avoid at all costs and go to the carvery at least you know what your getting. Absolutely without question the worst meal I've ever been served and I'm a builder and eat in greasy spoon cafes all over the country . The management should be ashamed and if environmental health visited it would be shut down.
