First time eating here and would highly recommend this pub. Really nice staff with a good atmosphere. The food was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly. Thank you chef. We were served by a lovely lady named Olivia, who made sure we had everything we needed, whilst being friendly so thank you for a great service.
We had the most wonderful meal on Christmas Eve, the pub itself is beautiful inside, greeted by the friendly staff including Lauren the manger. We had oven-baked mushrooms and prawn cocktail to start, and then Hunters Chicken and a pie for main. The portions were great, food was excellent quality and overall we had a lovely time. Brought our dog with us too which they sorted a bowl of water for her. Can’t wait to return!
Went to the Star today on a fairly busy Sunday afternoon we had the signature burger and it was absolutely delicious! Couldn't have been cooked more perfectly. Service was quick and attentive and friendly. Pudding was amazing too! Have been to another Vintage Inn nearer us and it was very poor on the Sunday so we decided to give here a go as we had a gift card. Would definitely go again in the near future!
+ The building itself is really picturesque inside and out + In particular the alcove by the window for 2 where we sat which was very pleasant + Both mine and my partner's mains and desserts were a very good size, reasonably priced, and very tasty + Staff were very friendly and accommodating I've attached a couple of pictures of what I had although in my greed-fuelled haste the picture of the main hides the black pudding mash behind the pork belly. Also, the picture might not convey it but the dessert was really big probably twice of what you'd get in some other places.
Amazing food, great service and very accommodating. I had the Fish & Chips beautiful. Highly recommend
Great to see a pub embracing being open again, busy but not packed and very friendly staff who served promptly without pressing. Food classic pub essentials with a few twists like apple sorbet on pulled pork. Generous portions for main course. Puddings so yummy we started eating before taking a review photo!
Initially I was looking forward to having dinner here as family and friends said the food was good. After my food had arrived I noticed it contained ingredients that weren’t clearly listed on the menu and I cannot eat. We called the waitress and mentioned this but instead of them asking what I would like to do and coming up with a solution, the waitress proceeded to belittle me for not correctly reading the menu and that I should’ve known that this dish contained this. I felt incredibly uncomfortable after this to which we decided to leave the meal with my family early. I understand it’s not easy working in the service industry, but treating customers in this way is not right considering the price of the food. I will definitely not be going back.
Visited for lunch today to celebrate my friend's birthday. The welcome was warm and Leanne led us to our table in the bay window. The service was lovely, friendly and informative without being intrusive and the food was just divine beautifully presented and delicious. Apparently just under new management and with a new chef, Rob, long may this place succeed. I strongly recommend it.
Staff friendly, food delivery was prompt and fairly priced. Negatives No steak sold out. Lamb chops and cottage pie seemed a strange menu item would have been better as separate dishes
Welcoming staff but the food on xmas day was limited especially as a vegetarian. I had 1 option which I think wasn’t festive more of a regular dish than a roast alternative. The soup was nice and fair but essentially that was the only course which I was able to eat. Main was a basically sweet pot or in a crust with slices there wasn’t much texture just mush. The white chocolate cheesecake trio was served frozen and also very little flavour to them. In the end I paid £70 for a bowl of soup. Only reason for 2 was the soup being editable and the staff hospitality. Otherwise it would have been lower.
