From start to finish our stay here was amazing! We flew in from Denver and got to the hotel early, Charlotte was wonderful and did all the she could to make sure we were comfortable and got our room ready early and with a smile and kindness hard to find these days. Charlotte continued to be willing to do anything for us and the rest of the staff was incredibly kind. The property is charming and so wonderfully decorated and creates a feeling like you are home, the food and drinks were delicious. They made our time there truly amazing and will remain a huge part of our fond memories and we will make a point to stay there anytime we are back in England. Stay here your heart with thank you and your memories will be wonderful ones.
Christmas Day Lunch We came for our Christmas Day lunch as a small family of four. The minute we arrived we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome, Champagne ready and seated to our table. The atmosphere was lovely, the whole restaurant was tastefully decorated and looking very rustic and cosy. We felt the whole time we were there we were well looked after, service was a little slow at times, but it was Christmas Day, and little did anyone know, the kitchen was running on one Cooker, the other broke down that morning. You wouldn't wish it on any chef on Christmas Day of all days. !! But there was no panic, no fuss, as I said, the whole time we were there, we were looked after. The food was absolutely lovely, fantastic quality and everything down to the table decor was lovely. I observed the waiting staff being kept up to date and led by the Manager well. Well done to the whole team for your hospitality and giving up your time, yes you are paid to do it, and choose to do this Job I hope you done well and help made our Christmas Day lovely. Thank you.
Meeting a friend for lunch at another eatery but 2 were fully booked so came here and so glad we did. Food was hot freshly cooked and tasty , restaurant was not too busy and service was quick & friendly. My friend had steak with chips I had burger & chips . Good ambience. Although a little on the pricey side it tasted good , will definitely consider coming back
A beautiful Inn that oozes charm and cosiness! Separate dining area for meeting friend's for coffee and chat or a great indoor our outdoor dining experience . Old World Charm, with warmth from log burners, little alcoves, large Inn, great food, friendly attentive staff. Just off A34 so great for a relaxing stop-off in your journey. Car parking, child friendly, dogs welcome.
Everything was perfect! We arrived on a blustery December day and stepped into the room to find it warm and cozy. Everything was neat and tidy. The staff were amazing. Food and drinks were delicious. Only wish we could have stayed longerRooms: 5/5
We were SO looking forward to our evening out at Carnarvon Arms last night. However, we were left feeling extremely underwhelmed. The food was ok, but have had better elsewhere. The waitress was very sweet, but distinct last of attention and care really, we had to ask for everything, no checking on us, not once. We spent a lot of money, and came away feeling very disappointed. Won't be coming back.
We have come here a few times and have always loved the food and environment. Unfortunately the food was just not up to scratch, the menu was quite limited with all of the best bits eg onion rings etc taken off. The food quality wasn’t great, not to the standard that we normally enjoy there. Also the staff are not happy with the quality of the food and the dynamics that the new chef brings. I hope that the standard improves again soon. Update:- Firstly I have come more times than what you can check on an app. Our upset of the QUALITY of food was not the absence of dog food. The dogs have nothing to do with me, I am another member of the table talking individually about my thoughts. I am talking about the quality of the steak rubbery, chips not as good as previous and the lack of high standard food that we have previously enjoyed.
Such a wonderful country pub. So happy we are local! We visit regularly and enjoy the excellent wine list. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Dog friendly and love sitting next to the fire! N/A
Great small hotel near Highclear Castle. Rooms are cute and clean, and the staff is friendly. The pub has really good food, some of the best I've had during my UK trip.Rooms: 5/5
Very tasty food Beef & Lamb roast brilliant service. Popped in for Sunday lunch two days ago. Unfortunately, later on on that same day we both, my partner and I became unwell loo trips and stomach cramps. Cannot come into workplace today and tomorrow due to 48 hour infection protocol. Not great... 23.09.2022 - Having returned call 21.09.2022 following first reply about our dining experience it has now been deleted and I have reattached it. The hotel truly appreciated the customer honest feedback and was told the Manager would really like to speak to us regarding this matter. The hotel left their phone number we called it on 21.09.2022 a member of staff took the call and my phone number said Rebecca our General Manager will call you on Friday or over the weekend when she is next in. We had no call back but a rather different second reply from the Hotel General Manager and the first reply had been deleted. I have to say I was a bit taken back with the comments given we had not had a call back from the hotel and using words such as being accused I found quite offensive given I am an experienced diner and have never written a review like this before. My partner called Rebecca today to find out what was going on and to explain we never had a call back. Rebecca said she never received a call back message from the staff member who took the message and phone number and that she would carry out an internal investigation. We welcome the internal investigation. The whole dining and complaint process has been disappointing. If a diner takes the time and effort to call a restaurant back with feedback that is ignored then what is the point in calling to highlight in the first instance. We will not be following up with this establishment and most certainly will not be dining there in the future. This is a true and accurate statement of circumstances yes the hotel may have had 273 cover meals of happy customers on the day we dined there, but there is always a minority in these situations and how often you hear businesses talk about the positive rather than accept we do not always get things right. We would have appreciated an apology like in their first reply and for the hotel to take on board comments made after all we were not obliged to call back. We will not be having any further dialogue with this establishment...
