The food prices are very affordable at the star. You get so much food and hence why you should visit when you are very hungry, your money will go a long way, I think! It seemed very popular among locals in the area. The customer service was okay, not outstanding. We may visit again to try the breakfast menu.
Very nice place with good menu. There is a special meal deals every day. My favorite choice there is Jumbo Fish & Chips. There is a children palyground outside, my son loves to go there. Every time, when we visit Gillingham, we go for a good meal to The Star.
We moved to this area last August but have been to the star many times over the years, now being just round the corner our new local we have been for dinner a few times over the past few months, some booked tables some walk ins. We are always met by a friendly face and service has been fantastic, always clean and great atmosphere, very reasonably priced and the food is amazing..the steak sizzler is my fav!! Keep up the good work guys see you all soon
My partner had been wanting to try their mega breakfast for ages so we finally made it in there before midday. The pub itself was clean and welcoming, loved the decor. The staff were all really friendly and efficient and the breakfast was fantastic. Really good price for the quantity you get and everything was cooked really well and very tasty. Definitely be back and looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Possibly worst really roast/meal I've had, had the big plate special roast beef which is suppose to be extra veg lashings of gravy and extra meat. As by the picture this did not meet expectations with 3 dry left over small bits of meat with hardly any gravy that could be cut with a knife. Ordered more gravy which took 20 minutes to come out and tasted burnt? Partners lasagne came out cold and sent back, and took 20 minutes before a Luke warm replacement came out. The 2 staff who served us looked rushed off their feet with other staff just chatting and uninterested playing loud music behind the bar, so felt guilty complaining to our servers about the meal. I shall be messaging direct with a complaint. I will be fair an say the burgers which were coming out for other customers did look ok, so not sure what happened to our meals?
Food was the worst pub food we have ever had !! Service diabolical had to go to bar to ask for cutelry left almost all the food The egg on the gammon was as hard as a golf ball ! my Scampi was cold and cucumber on the salad was slimy Beefburger was tastless ! Wont be going back ever !!
OK, so I went here with my 6 foot 20 year old son whilst he was back from uni. It was steak Monday and we decided to sit in the adults section to escape screaming kids as was school hols. Ordered the steak and 2 soft drinks and sat down. Cutlery brought to us, waited half hour and food brought to us. I called the waitress over half way through lunch to request a couple more minutes on the grill for the steak. Only at this point did she demand to see my sons ID as we were eating in the over 18s section NOT because any alcohol was ordered. So we went under interrogation in the middle of our meal. The manager asked my son to stand up and turn around. I showed a photo of my son's passport proving his age but of course they don't allow a photo of ID. I could totally understand it if there was any alcohol involved but why the hell would I try and deceive the pub over just sitting quietly in a section where there was next to no one there. We were very quiet, minding our own business and having a nice catch up until the jumped up seating police ruined it for me. Whilst the staff revelled in the power afforded to them to ask for ID and assess whether my son was old enough who incidentally looked older than the young girl who challenged us the manager decided to let us stay there as if he was doing us some sort of favour. I left half my meal, ordered no more SOFT drinks and left. I have been going to the Star for 25 years but will not go back there until they change their management. Total disgrace.
We had a family meal here very disappointed. Staff were too busy chatting to take order properly. Ordered a 8oz sizzling steak what arrived was a 8oz normal steak when I said I ordered sizzling steak no apologies just that's what came through to the kitchen. Apparently asked manager what they could do and if I pay for a sizzling steak then I can have it not good enough I have been trying to email you at the address you sent but so far my emails have been rejected not impressed
I love this place , it's cheap and cheerful, the food is always hot and the staff are lovely, we went on Friday when they had the BOGOF on burgers which worked out really good value even on their quadzilla burgers which is a beast of a burger, we had halloumi and cheesy garlic bread for starters , the bread was nice and fluffy and the halloumi wasn't rubbery as it can be at some places and by some miracle we had room for pudding so we had the apple and berry crumble and the cheesecake, well worth a visit
Really bad experience with this pub They asked ID card for buying the coke ! And the wine they serve was not good some insects where floating on it , when I asked for replace the drink and they said no ! Really we all go pub for getting a good vib but now it was really really bad experience ever I had ! And the food they serve was not even so tasty , staffs response was too bad , totally it’s a bad experience !
