Big pub with loads of space inside and out. I'd say it's got a slightly intimidating atmosphere at first but overall a good spot. They don't have a good selection of beers on tap which let's them down but there are a load of pool tables and dart boards which is the main plus! Also the pizza is surprisingly good
Only spent about an hour there while in Bristol. Friendly atmosphere. Polite staff. Good food. Good amenities. Seemed like what a local pup used to be
What a delicious! steak and ale stew, plus good old fashioned mash pot. Very very good ! Served up at just the right hot food temp. -- as others don't at times these days, who serve food not heated through and lose that zippy tastiness for the food also. But just the job here though, for lovely winter time stew. What a nice suprise as I was not even planning to stop here for food. But thought it would be worth it, as ending up here on a walk. ... Very much can recommend The Sportsman, -off Gloucester Rd in Bishopston, near the Prison and Sainsbury's, down Nevil Rd opposite -, on this experience and ... great to find on Boxing Day in the neighbourhood here open and opening at 12 midday on the dot. Excellent!! all round & many thanks.
Great to see a place that is taking social distancing seriously and has a setup that is efficient and easy to understand.....don't even get me started on the pizza! Incredibly good value for money with so many different, customisable topping combinations.
A top quality Pub in the 'Brizzle timeless Classic style', somewhere for everyone to sit, stand, drink or play. The Manger and staff are always charming and friendly, the food is always fresh and tasty. The Specials on the Blackboard are particularly good, highly recommend
Vegetarian Roast and a pint of Bob ale. Lovely roast dinner great service. Perfect portion size.
Good for a few games of pools, rarely struggle for availability of tables. Friendly staff, reasonably priced.
Amazing friendly atmosphere! They have the best pizzas! £14 for 2 Gluten free bases also available, pools a bit expensive at £1 a game, and it's £4.60 for a pint of shandy but apart from that it's a really nice place!
Solid pub. Lots of pool tables. Nice big beer garden. The pizzas here have no business being that good!
Lovely place for pool , great TVs for sports , lovely staff , fun night out.
