Room good standard and clean, however shower did not drain properly - was reported to staff but situation didn't change. Decoration including corridor needed refreshing. Damp patch on ceiling. Staff friendly. Food generous portions of average standard, however often things on menu were not available.
The evening meals were very good quality. However the breakfast lacked variety with cereals - I think they only had granola - and only sourdough bread, no 'ordinary' bread for toasting. The rooms were clean and well-presented but the beds were too hard and did not give a comfortable nights' sleep. The staff were friendly.
Overall a good stay. Evening meal was good but limited choices. At least 5 items not available but still on menu. Only told when trying to order. Why don't they tell you when they give you the menus? Breakfast good but expensive £5.95 for a small bowl of porridge. Bar staff were very good.Rooms: 4/5
Check-in took a long time whilst staff found the right person. They were not the friendliest when they did arrive, but got me checked in. The room was nice but the bathroom has a lot of peeling paint and didn't feel or smell very clean. Bed was good and firm. Room was pretty chilly as the radiator is so small and tucked away in a window alcove so struggles to get heat out into the room. Restaurant was closing early and initially I was turned away for dinner by another not entirely friendly staff member before I confirmed I was staying at the hotel. Dinner was really bad. Like epic level laughably bad! Calamari starter so overcooked it was like eating a washing machine hose. My steak arrived almost completely raw...before a new one came so over cooked it was silly. Waiter was nowhere to be seen so it took almost 30mins for someone to come back and be able to deal with the issues. Thankfully they didn't charge me for it! The one real redeeming positive was breakfast the following morning. Really friendly folks this time and a really lovely and well cooked breakfast was had...which admittedly took almost 40 mins to arrive I was the only diner in the restaurant at the time...and there was pretty good coffee and lots of it. Has potential to be a really nice hotel but is being let down by low level of room maintenance, staff delivering poor customer service and dinner that is probably best avoided great breakfast though!
The breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive. Despite being a table of 4. The room was extremely dirty. We reported this - a member of the team came to check and agreed. It has now been flagged as an improvement and reported. We were unable to get a shower the next morning as the mould around the bottom, dirt in the tray and what looked like a poo smudge on the silver shower waste plug. I genuinely cannot believe this was more than say 35 pound a night. We were unable to get clean and even the carpet in the room was dirty.
Lovely pub and hotel . Bar prices are reasonable, great menu choices for lunch and evening meal. Thought cooked breakfast was expensive at 9.95, although there was unlimited tea, coffee and juice . Room was spotlessly clean, bath sheets much appreciated . Ideal location if you're visiting Northumberlandia, and well situated for Blagdon Parlour wedding venue, it's a mile and five pounds in a taxi . Appreciated the 12 check out time as well .
Friendly welcome, comfortable quiet room, disappointing breakfast. I expect a hotel breakfast to include cereal/muesli and toast/croissant as well as coffee, juice, and hot dish. That wasn't really a breakfast.
1st time away in our own caravan, and what a lovely, friendly place. The site is well equipped with friendly staff, good food, and nice cold beer.Service: 5/5
Staff were professional, friendly. Food was lovely, breakfast amazing! Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Perfect for what we wanted.
One of our parties meals was all fat but this was removed from the bill otherwise good was very nice. Very nicely decorated very pleasant eveningService: 4/5
