Eaten here numerous times and never been disappointed. Food is very tasty, admittedly portions tend to be smaller than other places but I’d rather a smaller portion which tasted great than a large portion of average. Atmosphere is welcoming and generally it’s very busy each time we’ve been but the food is served quickly nevertheless. Much better value food than some others in Ramsbottom!

Nice pub with a nice cosy/ country feel. Good food and a good range of drinks on offer. The beer is rather expensive. £3.80 for a pint if bitter when a pint in the pub down the hill is around £3.10 a pint!!

A good Holcombe pub orientated towards quality. The Shoulder of Mutton has always been a pleasant venue, cosily nestled away in Holcombe village opposite the old Church. The pub has been a favourite of hill walkers and locals for many years. However, much to my delight it has recently stepped up it's food game and offers excellent lunch and dinners with local ingredients and a concise menu. The place is friendly and local beers are served, however the owners manage the space poorly and annex rooms are often left dark and unheated. In fact my only real issue is that they frequently fail to light the log fires even on cold winter days. Otherwise a very pleasant place. Parking is free, vegetarian options available and cards are accepted.
