I and a friend walked the Fife Coastal Path in early June this year. We stayed overnight at the Ship Inn. The Ship Inn is beautiful and located at the end of a street by Elie's harbor and marina. It is one of the most picturesque coastal towns on the coast. The Inn is beautiful. The restaurant and pub is popular. When we checked in, there was confusion on our rooms reservations. We were asked to have a seat in the bar while the reservation issue was resolved. Not only, did the Inn find our reservations, but they gave us a round of free drinks as an apology. The Ship Inn is a real community fixture. Locals and out of town visitors filled the bar and outdoor beer garden in the evening. Dogs were a welcome addition to the drinking and dining experiences. The rooms are immaculate, modern and contemporary. The walk in shower had endless hot water...a great thing to find after a long day of walking the Fife Coastal Path. Dinner and breakfast the next morning was terrific. The people at the Inn were very friendly and made for a great time to socialize with. Any visit to the area should include a stay at the Ship Inn. It was a great experience. Thank you to everyone at the Ship Inn.
Fantastic experience! We booked an early dinner on a Friday night and sat in the dog friendly area in the bar. The restaurant was very busy but we were very well looked after by James. We ordered cauliflower, olives and some wonderful bread to start followed by scallop risotto and steak. The risotto was amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection. We returned for dessert after a walk on the beach. The sticky toffee pudding was great but the only let down was the Eton Mess which doesn't really work in my humble opinion perhaps a rethink is needed. The rest of the meal was great so I didn't mind too much. We got engaged on the beach and when we told the team, they were genuinely happy for us and offered us a glass of bubbles with our dessert. All in all, a fabulous experience and a big thank you to Sarah, Hayleigh, James and the whole team for a memorable experience, we'll be back for sure! Highly recommended
A wonderful room with separate bathroom and views out to sea. A very warm and genuine welcome from Sarah. We’ve stayed in some lovely places on this trip, the Ship Inn is at the top. An interesting menu with beautiful food and wine, and professional and friendly staff. Definitely not to be missed if you are anywhere nearby. We hope to return when next visiting from Australia.
Absolutely delicious. Pricey but very very good. The haddock was sublime. Perfectly cooked with a crispy batter. Lovely chips complimented by crushed peas and the freshest tartar sauce I've ever tasted. Staff were lovely and sat us quickly as the kitchen was due to close in 5 minutes. You might double take when you see the price but defo worth trying it at least once.
Really lovely pub with marvellous food! I'm not normally one to order soup as a starter, but I am so glad I did. After a breathtaking dip in the sea, it was exactly what I needed, warm, comforting and full of flavour! Out waitress was really wonderful and the staff were very accommodating of my dairy allergy. Would 100% eat here again.
Sat outside for a couple of hours. Great atmosphere, with the cricket going on in the background. Used the app to order drinks. Saved queuing. And young guy serving was great. Really helpful. Note: would be good if could leave notes with app orders. No way of asking for lime in drinks until they arrived. We wanted to eat as well but at £17 for a burger and chips off the BBQ we found another option. Looked tasty and those with deeper pockets seemed to be happy enough though.
I was here for lunch which although not an extensive menu was OK. This Inn is overlooking the Forth which in summer is pleasant. There is an outside sitting area which in summer is very busy as the view is good. Another bonus is you are allowed to bring your dog in and as I am a dog person I thought was great. The staff were very polite and friendly. Yes i would recommend a visit.
We stopped here for lunch on a tour of the Fife Coastal Path. Lovely setting with both inside and outside seating. The outside seating looks over the beach which is great weather dependant! and the inside is a well looked after modern pub. Food was decent for lunch time and we didn't have a long wait despite it being busy. The major minor point is that it's eye wateringly expensive for both food and drink. The plus point of being the only pub in the village I suppose.
This place surprised me actually, in the quality of the food. Its obviously in lovely location, and l99ms good from the outside but the menu read boring. However, it wasn't boring at all but pretty amazing food. Will definitely go again... assuming there's a parking space nearby, Elie's shocking for parking
Modernised pub restaurant, a little lacking in ambience, but staff friendly enough. We didn't eat as the prices were a little silly. Comfy sofas close to the fireplace were a nice touch after a coastal hike in an improbably strong wind.
