A day out in the rain with my Mother. After a large detour we finally ended up in Anstruther absolutely starving. After finally picking a place to eat there's many to choose from in the harbour area, we entered the Waterfront Hotel late in the afternoon hoping their lunch menu was still available. The young lady who served us mentioned they were changing over to the dinner menu but she would check with the Chef. To our delight we were allow to choose from the lunch menu. Great choice, I really fancied the roast beef and radish sandwich, but my Mother convinced me to share the seafood sharing dish at £23. So glad she did as it was fabulous, so many flavours to include salmon, smoked herring, calamari, prawns and others served with beautiful fresh corn bread. All incredibly fresh. The service was also excellent and we will definitely return. We enjoy our days out as my Father and Husband are not very adventurous when it comes to food, so we tend to have completely different food when it is just the two of us. We both highly recommend the Waterfront Hotel and I am so glad it was our choice on the day. Thank you Chef and Staff.
Booked her as the sister restaurant The Bank was fully booked. Beautiful cozy place, food was piping got when it arrived which I find is unusual in restaurants these days. Had 2 scampi, 4 cokes, lemon meringue pie and ice cream. Was £50, it was delicious and well presented. Looking forward to visiting here in the summer months.Food: 5/5
The restaurant in the Waterfront was busy but they kindly fitted us in. We had the Chicken Fajitas & the Smoked Mackerel Lasagna. The Fajitas were good, but a little oily & too mild. The Lasagna was superb. Staff were friendly, but a little run off their feet by the number of customers.
Superb fish and chips - went early evening and waited for just the time it took to cook two perfect fish suppers. The freshest haddock in light crispy batter accompanied by perfect chips! Huge portions, great value.
Our first full Scottish breakfast with Haggis and potato scone. Excellent service from young but professional, polite staff. From being seated to ordering and having breakfast brought to our table the service was very efficient. The breakfast was hot, perfectly cooked and well presented. Would definitely recommend you try it if in Anstruther
Excellent overnight stay with super evening meal and breakfast. Fabulous staff in restaurant/kitchen and housekeeping staff welcoming. Rooms spotless and brightly decorated. Would highly recommend a stay here or dining experience. Thank you all for your professionalism and welcoming service. Will be back soon. Dietary restrictions: Good selection of fresh produce on menu
Visited in the evening after spending the day in the area. The Anstruther was rammed with the queue reaching out the door, so we looked at other options. We found this is smart looking little chippy a few doors down next to The Waterfront restaurant and it looked like it had just opened for the evening so was still quiet, so took our chances here. Ordered kids chicken nugget meal, battered sausage supper came with 2 sausages and haddock supper. We waited a wee while for the fryers to get up to temperature but when the food arrived it was well worth the wait - delicious! No complaints whatsoever, the chips were done to perfection and the batter lovely and light and crispy which makes all the difference.
I've visited twice to this chippy. Great portion sizes. We order a kids supper and it's more than enough. A full size supper comes with 2 pieces of fish and a tonne of chips.staff always helpful, although the second visit must have been a busier day ad the staff did seem to be very rushed and stressed. My fish was also a little more greasy than the visit before.
Nice food, nice location but very poor service. We were sat at a wobbly table that was so unstable our drinks kept spilling, when we asked to move to a table that was free we were told it was booked, yet was still empty when we left along with another few also free. When our food came we were offered no sauces, other drinks etc as staff stood and chatted at the bar. Staff fully ruined our experience, very unhelpful and unwelcoming.
I recently stayed overnight on a business trip to Kirkcaldy. It was worth the drive along the coast to Anstruther to stay in this lovely B&B hotel. Lovely helpful staff, great food and a cosy room for a great night's peaceful sleep. The restaurant seemed to have a vibrant mix of locals and visitors with a reasonably priced menu featuring local seafood and produce. Breakfast was equally enjoyable with visiting golfers preparing for the day on the course. Well worth a visit!
