Absolutely one of the best restaurants around. And indeed in Scotland. Food is superb, consistently cooked and beautifully presented. Service is exemplary, usually by Guiseppe who also makes great suggestions for accompanying wines.nnThe accompanyingphotos don't do it justice as the flavours especially that starter of mushroom parfait was to die for!nnAnd the views out across the harbour and the Firth!nnIts always a highlight of our trip to dine here at Craig Miller. Well done to Chef Craig, his wife Gail and all staff for making a visit so pleasurable.
Had a wonderful evening at 16 West End. By a rare chance we were the only diners on this spring evening in St. Monan’s. Still, the restaurant opened for us and laid on a fantastic experience. Absolutely wonderful food throughout. Imaginative and delicious. Incredible views of The Isle of May, Bass Rock, St. Monan’s Harbour and the North Berwick coastline. Watched the ships sail by as we dined. So grateful for a fantastic experience.
When booking a table recommended I didn't realise that this is fine dining. I'm no stranger to this, so it was a delightful surprise. However, if your looking for Steak Frites, this isn't the place for you.nnWhat you can expect is a 6 course tasting menu while watching the sun set over St Monans.nnThe dining room is pleasant and comfortable with an attentive yet not overly familiar service.nnThe meal began with an amuse bouche that didn't disappoint and it set the tone nicely for a delightful meal. Each course delighted the eye as well as the taste buds, and was served promptly with a confident explanation.nnEach dish was cooked and plated to perfection. The combination of fresh ingredients, flavours and textures presented a new experience at every course.nnThe wine list is as impressive as it is formidable, clearly curated by an experienced sommelier who appreciates the grape.nnI fully expect Craig and his team to gain two stars at some point in the future.nnMy only suggestion to the team, consider using the rear bar as a small pub or snug St Monans needs it and serve some local brews and small plates. Scotland's bread basket is on your doorstep, it would be fantastic to see it celebrated.
We had the most lovely lunch here on Wednesday, 22 July. We dined al fresco as we had our dogs with us. The vista was lovely and the sun was shining. I had the 4 course vegetarian menu and I haven't stopped talking about how good it was since then. My husband had the4 course pescetarian lunch and it was also fantastic. We can't wait to go back. It was every bit as good as it was 16 years ago when first dined here. It will now be a regular spot for us....no need to wait for a special occasion! Reservation is essential.
An interesting spot for a meal with lovely harbour views. A bit of a trek from Edinburgh and probably very good for the area. Some worthy dishes, that were well presented. Overall a fair place to stop and have a meal.
