We stumbled on this pub on a trip back from London. We were surprised to see it so quiet for a Sunday afternoon. It is in a delightful location and looks beautiful from the outside. We had drinks and a snack in the shady garden. It was very relaxing. The whole experience was exactly what we were looking for.

We have been recommended to visit this place numerous times and spontaneously decided to pop in for lunch Saturday afternoon 1pm. We were ignored on arrival by the barman who pretended not to see the 6 people who had just walked into the empty restaurant, after initiating an awkward hello i asked if we just choose a table and sit down as he hadnt continued to speak to his customers who were obviously awaiting some direction....the answer was a sarcastic it depends on if you have booked or not....looking around the empty restaurant i answered no....to which i received another sarcastic reply of.....6 people and you didnt think to book!!! pretty shocking pretty rude. Long story short we ended up walking out after numerous more awkward comments from said French accented barman. Sorry but this service is unacceptable and will never be returning.

If I could give it six stars i would, a beautiful country pub set in a idyllic location. From the moment I arrived i was welcomed by the owners, staff and locals, I'll be going back. tres bien!! Bertie.

Good reliable food and wine; a great local.

Nice location and lunch was decent, welcoming landlord. Small selection of ales because he sells a large selection of wine. My nagging issue was the chemical smell of the toilets wafting into the bar area.
