The best local pub! So happy this is my neighbourhood pub as it is one of the best pubs around. Service - always friendly, staff are super helpful and kind Atmosphere - great indoors pub atmosphere, definitely good in all seasons. Come winter there is a roaring fire on, in summer you can’t beat the outdoor beer garden with the fairy lights. Food - honestly such a good gastropub, the Sunday roast is fairly priced and absolutely delicious. The Selkirk sizzlers in the summer time is one of the barbecues around! Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian options, at least 1-2 mains
Amazing food, everyone was super nice! I got the gnocchi, they were super tasty! Mind that I'm very picky about italian-like foods and tend to avoid them while travelling. But I definitely recommend this one!Food: 5/5
My boyfriend got the chicken roast. Tiny portion for £20+ can’t remember exactly how much it was! yummy however small so needed to get side portions to be full up. Vegetarian options: Yummy vegetarian food however small portions
Fantastic pub. We’ve recently moved to the area so we came to try it out. Exceeded our expectations. The food was fresh and beautifully presented I had the gnocchi, my boyfriend had the BBQ meat platter option that they do on thurs&fridays which was really tasty too. The staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They even lent us their umberella when we left as it was pouring it down outside. Overall a fantastic pub, we’ll be back.
Our waitress Beyoncé was wonderful, very friendly with such lovely energy and efficiency. Thank you also to the chef, the food was lovely, especially the fish and chips! DeliciousFood: 5/5
We enjoyed a gorgeous roast here today. The staff were so kind, welcoming and attentive especially a lovely lady called Ell they even had the courtesy to call us before we arrived to check what we’d want to order, to make sure they had fresh ingredients for our roasts. Cant recommend enough- we’ll definitely be back: oh and don’t leave without trying the sticky toffee pudding!!
Came here for the Sunday roast but first ordered the olives and squid. The olives was tasty but very small portion. The squid particularly was what made us leave. The portion size is very small for the price and it was too oily. So we left without getting the Sunday roast as i always take appetisers as an insight to the mains quality. Sadly I dont feel the serving justifies the price.
Been to the Selkirk many times in the past and the atmosphere is always great and today we went again for roast lunch..I've had to edit my previous review after amazing follow up by the GM Nicola. Service today was fantastic, our waitress superb and everything that one would expect from a great local pub... Lunch rush was busy but everything was handled well and efficiently, reminiscent of past excellent experiences. Food was tasty, and dessert great but by then I was pretty stuffed. Amazing job done Nicola and her team , we will definitely be back for further food experiences. Kid-friendliness: Child/baby friendly..good kids menu, high chair available if required.
It's a great place to enjoy a drink with friends. The location offers a quiet and pleasant environment. It offers both indoor and outdoor service. It has a few tables outside - in front of the restaurant, but they also have a pretty nice terrace area, as well as a spacious garden where they have set up tables and offer outdoor service. The place is clean, neat, nicely decorated and offers a pleasant atmosphere. They have a wide variety of drinks - good ones, and the prices are like everywhere else in the area. The music is nice, but sometimes it can be too loud. From what I saw, they also have table games in a more intimate area, but I didn't know and didn't try them. The staff is really nice and friendly. I recommend visiting it! It has a special "something" that you must try.
Lovely roast and crumble! Staff great Only criticism is the roast could’ve had a bit more on the plate which is probably testament to how tasty the food was! Great crispy potatoes and pork
