A 17 bedroom privately owned and managed townhouse hotel in the heart of the pretty harbour town of Kirkcudbright. Where good food, friendly service and a warm welcome await.

It’s the gentle pace and peaceful atmosphere which perhaps moved Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns to write the famous Selkirk Grace at this very hotel in 1794.

Joanna and her team were super welcoming and accommodating. We booked late in the day for a dog-friendly room and the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us. We had a fantastic stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone. The room was lovely, the hotel stunning with lovely food. 10/10.
Lunch was fantastic. Top quality food and excellent service. Highly recommend. Had the lamb shoulder pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. Both 5 stars.
My partner had stayed for an evening to celebrate her birthday.nWe'd booked to eat at the hotel restaurant and were both thoroughly glad we did as the food was exquisite. The staff had even gone out of their way to write my partner a card and pour a glass of bubbly - thank you!nWe really enjoyed our stay and can see why it was so popular!
I went to a private function and the food was delicious. I had a vegetarian option of red pepper and Veggie parmesan risotto. The portion size was plenty for me, but may not have satisfied a larger appetite. The dessert was similar to a lemon meringue pie, but using a lemon curd instead of the traditional filling. It had a garnish of strawberries and lemon balm, which looked and tasted delightful. Service was very good, and they willingly and quickly responded to my request for extra hot water for my cafetière coffee, which I like quite weak. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner experience here. Thank you.
I had a really nice stay for a couple of days here while staying for work purposes. comfortable bed, and a tidy clean room.nThe staff were all very pleasant and friendly too.nFood was ok. Nothing to complain about really. I would stay here again if I was in the area.
