The Salisbury Hotel

Story

The Salisbury is a Grade II* listed pub on Grand Parade in Harringay, north London.HistoryThe Salisbury was designed and built by John Cathles Hill, founder of The London Brick Company. The pub was opened in 1899 with W. A. Cathles, a cousin of Hill, as the manager. Its construction cost of £30,000 is approximately £ as of.It caused something of a stir when it opened, being described by the trade journal, The Licensed Victualler and Catering Trades' Journal in the most glowing terms:In 2003, following a period of dilapidation and decline, and temporary closure, it was sympathetically restored and reopened. In 2008, beer and architecture experts Geoff Brandwood and Jane Jephcote, selected The Salisbury as one of London's top ten heritage pubs in their book, London Heritage Pubs – An Inside Story.Architectural detailsThe exterior is classified as French Renaissance style with shaped gables, ogee domed cupolas and large pedimented dormers. It is constructed of red brick with stone bands and dressings. Its slated mansard roof has a high central tower topped with a wrought-iron crown. The pub has three stories and attic. Polished black larvikite Corinthian pilasters support the fascia. The entrances have ornate wrought-iron screens above imposts, with elaborately tiled lobbies and mosaic floors.

Very decent roast although only a medium size portion for the price. Great beers on tap and a friendly staff.Food: 4/5
Spacious and stylish Victorian-era pub with laid back atmosphere, good music and Asian food. A good selection of English and international beers. Would come here weekely if I lived here :Food: 5/5
Great old style pub with lots of space within which to sit or stand. Does nice food too. The bar is in the middle of the pub & the punters are in a circle around that bar. Parking not impossible on street but busy. Better to come by public transport. Busy and happy vibe. Staff professional and friendly. Clientele cool and peaceful. Not a rowdy, scary pub. Big screens for the sporting occasions. Lots of funky shops & eateries on Green Lanes all around this pub. Kebab heaven. Parking: Better to come by public transport. Green Lanes as a road is very busy anyway. Wheelchair accessibility: Step-free access. Main pub is ground floor.
impressive with its Victorian décor and atmosphere. The beautiful stained-glass windows and intricate woodwork create a cozy yet elegant setting. The spacious interior, complete with vintage furnishings, offers a warm and welcoming vibe. Whether you’re enjoying a pint or a meal, the friendly staff and lively ambiance make it a perfect spot for relaxation or socializing.
Large pub with good beer selection and atmosphere. Historic interior has won awards. Plenty of seating, food changes hands quite often but usual good pub food.Food: 4/5
Skip it. Reserved a table for 15, got there and we were shared in 3 different tables far apart. Took 40 minutes to get orders, another 40 to get the food, another 20 to be able to pay. Card machine was not accepting some cards and the printer with the bill also not working. Sunday Roast was 22.50 and very ordinary. Sticky pudding was horrible. Mac n cheese was too soft and cold. Plates left dirty on the table for a long time. Dirty toilets. Dark environment. Go to any other pub around there for food. Beers were fine.
Oiiiii the local dish that keeps on giving. The little dragon dark kitchen was questionable a year ago but diversification for the nation is paying dividends. Much more delicious noodles and picky bits on other. And ultimately, there is a couple of Chinese esk burgers not Chinese at all which are actually banging. The soft shell crab burger delivers. You can feel the components of the crab as you are eating it which I know is a bit gross… but can’t knock that texture. Also chips umm ummmm. And they bring you a mayo and ketchup without asking. It’s important business aye. Beers always good. The fun tap end of the bar never disappoints. Was slightly annoyed to hear they no longer have the fentilmens ginger beer bottles but it’s been replaced by a kopparberg blood orange ginger beer. Brain saying ugh, Taste buds saying yes pleeezzze
Great selection of interesting craft beers, which are available as a flight of thirds so you get to have a range of them without drinking too much
One of London's best pubs: a friendly vibe, a great range of beers, a diverse clientele amid well-preserved ornate Victorian splendour!Service: 5/5
A very traditional English pub located in an impressive Victorian Building with a contemporary and young vibe too. A great selection of craft beers and malt whisky. Great outdoors seating for the summer and a cozy atmosphere inside. There's also a large saloon when you can see sports broadcast on terrestrial channels. Highly recommended and probably the best pub on Green Lanes
