Very nice local pub, not a chain. Unusual and retro decor. Mainly pies appear to be home made with a large range of fillings including vegetarian, gluten free and vegan choices on the menu but a reasonable selection of other items. Good atmosphere and fairly busy, a good sign in a local when there is plenty of competition in Old Town area.
We had been told about the Sailmakers Arms and about the quality of their "Pies" ... wonderful crisp pastry and fab fillings ... served with Mash or Chunky Chips, minted peas .... great pint of Beer ....thoroughly enjoyable lunch ... thank you
What a little gem in old town hull Full of history and a few ghosts as well maybe Great choice of ales and ciders on tap Plus lots of other drinks wine spirits Great atmosphere Friendly staff, relaxing too
Very unusual food choices, very tasty though. Nice to have such a wide choice for veggies and vegans. Lively atmosphere, if a bit noisy for we older people. We will definitely visit again to try the other food.
Had an amazing time at this pub today. Had a table in the beer garden and had steak and ale pie with mash, suede and carrot with gravey. Absolutely delicious! Good portion too. Barman really friendly and helpful. Definitely will be going again.
Fab pies . Dog is just the most gorgeous soul. So loving and well behaved . Lovely place and lovely staff. Really friendly and helpful AND it's open Monday lunch unlike most other pubs in the area . Decor and atmosphere are fabulous
Hadn't been in here for a few years and I'm sorry that I hadn't. Great choice of beers and ciders.Great atmosphere and very nice staff. The prices are pretty good, but next time I go I will definitely be trying the food.Overall a nice place to eat and drink. Try it out you won't be disappointed
Called in on our way home from The Deep, looked a very lovely place from the outside, the barman was lovely, had a laugh with him no name badges so can’t credit him. When our meal came the steak was supposed to be medium rare, but was burnt on the outside and no pink in the middle. The waiter was lovely and offered to have it replaced, but the chef sent him out to tell me that it was already medium rare and was black as it’s flame grilled. I am a trained chef with experience in similar settings, so know this can be done without being black. They eventually replaced it and it was ok. The chef needs a lesson in what steak should look like at each stage, unless he was just trying to save cooking another one. All the other staff were great, friendly and welcoming x
Great little pub, good selection of drinks. The smell of food was delicious, although we didn’t eat. Very dog friendly too!
Nice food, and atmosphere. Enjoyed our visit
