You can't beat the location - right in the middle of town, three bakeries directly across the street, minutes away from the beach and bus stops. But it's so much more than a conveniently-placed hotel. There is so much history in the Royal Lion and just enough character to quench your appetite for a byegone era without sacrificing modern conveniences. A wonderful pub and restaurant are also on the premises, and breakfast is amazing. This is the only place I'd ever consider staying in Lyme Regis!
My recent stay at The Royal Lion Hotel was genuinely memorable, thanks in large part to the fantastic team who bring the place to life. The hotel itself has that perfect blend of historic charm and relaxed comfort, but it’s the people who make it stand out.nnKent was an absolute star from the moment I arrived. He has that rare mix of professionalism and easygoing warmth that immediately puts you at ease. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and he handled everything with a calm confidence that really sets the tone for the whole place.nnDawn brought such a friendly, welcoming energy every time I saw her. She has a natural way of making guests feel looked after, and her attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Whether it was a quick question or a small request, she handled it with genuine care.nnAbby was equally brilliant — upbeat, attentive, and always ready with a smile. She added a lovely personal touch to the stay, and it’s clear she takes pride in making sure guests have a great experience.nnBetween the character of the building, the comfort of the rooms, and the standout service from Kent, Dawn, and Abby, The Royal Lion Hotel is the kind of place you look forward to returning to. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.
We had the most amazing stay about a month ago! I must say we were absolutely overjoyed with the facilities of The Royal Lion, our room was perfectly clean, beautifully designed, with ample room! The building itself is large, gorgeously historic with a large car park, and what an amazing surprise to find that it has a Swimming Pool! This was the icing on the cake as it was excellently maintained and extremely warm, it was such a luxury! As well as the swimming pool, the breakfast was also a highlight with an amazing selection too.nWe want to thank Kent for looking after us, he was really helpful with any question that we had and was just generally a delight to talk to over breakfast!nWe can't wait to come back in 2026!
Enjoyed our stay here during a rather damp Feb. The fire was most welcome and it was lovely being able to book a slot to use the pool. Staff are lovely and nice touch having the fresh coffee bags in the rooms. Only losing a star due to the sauna not operating during our stay. Food was very good and the Monday offer most welcome. Would happily come back to try the sauna!
We dropped in for a late lunch recently, seeing they had a “2 for 1” offer.nWe both had the steak & tanglefoot pie, served with Badger beer gravy. Delicious.nGreat food, great service and excellent ales.
