Great place to chill with the best carrot cake and coffee in town This is a great cafe run by really friendly chatty staff. Went twice, first time had the freshly made pea soup with tarragon and fresh baked bread which was absolutely scrumptious and a big portion too. Second trip went for the curry with rice - it is a kinda fusion of Malay coconut curry and mild Indian curry which worked really well and left me wanting for more. This was rounded off with the best carrot cake I have ever eaten (and I am a big fan of good quality carrot cake so have high carrot cake standards) with tea. Turns out the owner bakes the cakes fresh herself ... seriously impressive. The best table is the one behind the cafe as it is set in a lovely herb garden and was in the shade on a hot day. Will be sure to visit next time.

We felt very welcomed upon arriving at the Courtyard Cafe and although they were very busy they didn't appear at all stressed. The vegan options were explained by a lovely woman taking the orders. I had the vegan fritters and accompanying salad which was very tasty and filling. My daughter had the vegan tomato and lentil soup - delicious! My husband had the non-vegan crab sandwich with salad - also delicious. There was also a soya option for coffee. From start to finish the staff were both friendly and helpful; even asking how our food was at the end to make sure we were satisfied. First class service and food and would highly recommend.

Not the best cheapest place for coffee and cake but very caring staff and lovely atmosphere. Pay your money and take your choice. 😀

Not cheap, but good food and friendly staff. Uses local ingredients and a good gluten free selection. Seats inside and tables outside. There's a separate breakfast and lunch menu.

Really bland food at extortionate prices. Ham sandwich had one slice of ham, far too much mustard and tiny side salad with too much dressing. Rip off at £6. Pastrami sandwich had very little meat in it and drowned by chutney. Butternut squash soup tasted like it was just lentils and stock. Rip off at £5.80 and you don't even get butter for your bread. A lovely looking cafe completely let down by pap food.
