The best meal we've had this holiday. The crab pasta was way better than that at Rick Stein's in Winchester! Great views across Ventnor with a small but carefully crafted menu to cater to most tastes. Pasta to pizza to grill, and a great wine list. The food is obviously cooked with love!
Honestly this is such a hidden gem! We booked earlier in the day and on arrival we're given a great table indoors with a fab view of the sun setting over the ocean. The food was gorgeous and they cater for both vegetarians and gluten intolerances. The wine on offer was divine. Once we had finished eating we asked to move to a table on their terrace which has an uninterrupted view over ocean. The service was truly wonderful, can't recommend this place enough.
Hate leaving negative reviews but was honestly so disappointed by this experience : We booked a table here as had read it was one of the best Italians on the Island. We were greeted in a very rushed manner by the waitor who took us to an undressed table, and then took another 10 minutes to even give us any menus. When we received the menu it was EXTREMELY limited and for mains had only 3 pasta dishes and 3 pizza dishes. The waiter didn't take a drinks order for us, and when he finally came to our table about 20 minutes after we were seated, he was in a rush again when there were only 3 other small tables seated in the whole restaurant. I had popped to the toilet and my husband asked for a couple more minutes to order as I was in the toilet. The waiter then literally shouted at him across the restaurant "are you ready yet or am I going to have to wait for hours?! You were late and I have other customers to serve!!", my husband was so stunned he didn't say anything and all the other customers were just staring- it really ruined our evening! Horrible service but food was ok. :
Wow what a fantastic restaurant. Lovely host and amazing food. The fillet steak was the best I have had in a while. The fish was also lovely. Brilliant views from the restaurant and a lovely terrace outside. Probably best to book ahead to avoid disappointment. Great wines and deserts. They even do takeaway
Very weird, hostile environment. Disgusting service. There was only two staff on a ‘busy’ Saturday evening who acted like they were doing us a favour by ‘squeezing us in’ onto a table despite us booking on the phone hours beforehand!! They both looked us up and down when we entered. Rudeness the entire time and no smiles, especially from the woman. We waited patiently half an hour to be given menus once sat and we didn’t even get offered to order our drinks. Once we asked to order drinks we got a rude ‘what do you want then’ almost shouting in our faces. Waited ages for food to arrive and once it did, the ‘medium rare’ £28 fillet steak was well done and almost cremated and pizzas weren’t authentic Italian and were tasteless. Not worth the money whatsoever. May I just add that this restaurant wasn’t even that busy! And even if it ever was busy, that’s NEVER an excuse to treat customers like this and serve rubbish overpriced food. We went out for a family treat and the entire experience turned out to be stressful and negative. I have been a waitress before and I can honestly say this customer service was despicable. I never like to write bad reviews, ever, but I had to this time. We are new to Ventnor and everyone else here seems to be welcoming, but this restaurant knocked it a bit. The only good thing about the place is the view but you may as well just go to the beach. Don’t go here. And I suggest to the staff that you either hire some more people rather than unprofessionally complaining to your customers, or work on your own customer service skills and learn how to put a smile on your faces. …. also learn what ‘medium rare’ means seeing as you’re charging £28 - or don’t even bother asking customers how they like their steak cooked!
What a lovely little gem in the heart of Ventnor. We went there on two consecutive evenings during our 5 day trip in the island. Beautiful live piano with amazing food. The service is very slow since there's only one guy serving, the owner himself. But he's so lovely you won't mind. Highly recommend! :
Fantastic Pizza and great food. Sitting outside in the summer evening with the best view of Ventnor bay. Was a wonderful place to watch the Around the Island Race on 1st of July, a real front row seat. Abdul the owner of the restaurant always makes us feel very welcome and looks after us extremely well. Also very good value for money.
Excellent customer service, lovely atmosphere with live music, the owner went above and beyond, best steak I’ve ever had.Recommended dishesPizza, Filet Steak Medium Rare
Food was really tasty and the service excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. Great views. No children's menu but did adapt a main meal - from reading previous reviews that have said they weren't family friendly they were fine with my son maybe they've changed their ways?! Personally I found the music playing a bit annoying as it was crackly and the decor is dated rather then fine dining. Definitely don't be put off though as the food was lovely.
Lovely art deco restaurant who's interior far outdoes the rather tired exterior. Our host was a perfect Italian gentleman who made me & my friends feel so at home with his warm smile and homely welcome. Surprisingly generous floor area with outside terrace overlooking the sea & a lower garden. Menu was not over extensive but choice was more than enough and all proved to be brilliantly cooked and delicious. Not the cheapest restaurant in town but well worth the cost, especially compared to what is offered at similar prices in the town. Great evening and thoroughly recommended.
