This is a Victoria refreshment room which provided sustenance to travellers taking the ferry to and from Liverpool. Unfortunately the view now is an oil jetty. However inside you enter a wonderful Victoria dining room. The food is excellent combined with really good and friendly service. Good deal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for us old folks. One of our favourite places to meet friends.

Amazing food. One of my favourite places to eat. The staff are lovely and the food is beyond lush! There's a broad range of dishes available on the menu and you are sure to find a dish that tickles your taste buds. You will probably find yourself faced with a difficult decision, as all of the food looks & tastes so delicious. Very reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit. Booking is advisable as it gets quite busy.

Very good restaurant food excellant staff nice and friendly and caring.  We have been several times with friends who also enjoyed the food etc also different members of the family also gave it 10 /10. Have recommended the refreshment Rooms to several groups of people who have got back to me praising the food and the staff.

I don't normally leave reviews but I feel I need to on this occasion! Our initial server/waiter was extremely sarcastic towards my 10year old son because he didn't want cheese on his burger, quite rude. It wasn't particularly busy but service was slow and we were left with the plates and bowls from our starters sat in front of us when they brought our main course out, which was in stages meaning we didn't manage to eat at the same time!! We then had to go and ask for sauces and mayonnaise after waiting to catch the eye of a server, this is something that you would normally be asked when your food is presented but the dishes were put in front of us and the server disappeared each time! The food was nice but unfortunately the service was at best dreadful!

Very interesting restaurant down near the river, in New Ferry of all places.  Good menu with plenty of choice, and enough room between the tables so that you didn't overhear everyone else's conversations.  I had a Chicken and Ham Hock pie, which was delicious.  It came with mashed potatoes, which were lovely, a few sliced carrots, mange tout, and Savoy cabbage.  Everything was hot, including the plate, and all well cooked, except the cabbage, which could have done with with quite a lot longer in my opinion. My partner had cod and chips, and was pleased because there was a choice of chunky or skinny chips. Four of us went, and all our plates were sent back empty. Nice atmosphere, lovely staff, interesting building, good food and reasonably priced.  Will definitely be going again.
