Came here for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed, we all had Roast in the hole, which came in a large Yorkshire pudding, beef, pork, stuffing, parsnips, leeks, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and with separate side plate of vegetables, we asked for some more gravy to go with it. We all left empty plates, really tasty. For pudding two of us went for it, I had chocolate fudge cake and our friend had cheesecake, we both went for cream rather than ice cream, two empty plates later we were all fully satisfied, great selection of beer too and also the wine by the bottle is very reasonable priced. Service was great as was the welcome, place was very busy which proves how good the food is. We will return, many thanks
We visited the Red Lion yesterday whilst on holiday nearby. We were super impressed. The atmosphere was really nice and the pub itself was very cozy. Staff were welcoming. The menu had a great selection. Our started were delicious and Our dinners once they arrived looked amazing and tasted even better than they looked. Thank you
Came for a lunch with my family and had a really great meal. The atmosphere was fantastic; small, local country pub with lovely decor and 2 warm fires. Great food - I had a simple fish and chips, but the fish tasted really fresh with a crispy, light batter, excellent triple cooked chips and one of the best tartare sauces I’ve ever had. Friendly, welcoming staff made the experience even better.
Myself and my family celebrated Christmas and my husbands birthday at the Red Lion yesterday. The service, food and staff were all excellent. We enjoyed various meals from the vegan to the traditional Christmas dinner and all were delicious. So grateful to the staff for giving up their own Christmas Day to make ours so special.
Ate here Good Friday evening, staying in nearby Pilley. Both my hubby and I had a delicious meal. Super friendly welcome & service. Popped back in Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks. Same great service. Thank you for contributing to our wonderful stay in the New Forest
Great little pub and restaurant. Managed to get us booked in at short notice. Food looked amazing and also tasted delicious. The portion of onion rings is excessive! I think i got a whole onion! But they were really good. They are keeping to distancing where possible, though they didn't take our names for check and trace. Would visit here again.
really nice staff, amazing food, cozy and welcome interior, had a nice evening meal here with my boyfriend and really enjoyed it, definitely recommend it
Nice place situated in a lovely small village. We didn't eat but the portions we saw looked good. Dog friendly with an open fire. Will visit again.
We had been recommended to the Red Lion, heard some good things. Sadly we didn’t have a good Sunday lunch, the quality of the food was not great, the meat in particular was like something you would get from a processed meal in a box, the lack of it was also noted but we wouldn’t of eaten it in this instance anyway. The side vegetables were microwaved leaving the cling film around the dish is a bit of a give away but also tasteless, mashed carrot/swede was sloppy and runny, the one tiny parsnip was miniature actually thought it was meant for a dolls house! Gravy was rationed too on the basis extra gravy is extra £2. It just didn’t look appetising. Overall not a good lunch, such a shame because the pub itself is lovely and staff are very welcoming and helpful. They were very apologetic too. A time when cost of living is so high, eating out is really a treat therefore we felt very disappointed. We hope our constructive feedback will raise awareness as it has the potential to be a little gem. Whilst we appreciate the pub not charging for the two adult meals our feedback not complaint was not about receiving a discount or money off but our genuine disappointment we experienced following the recommendation to visit and hopefully received in a positive manner.
Had a wonderful experience again here at the Red Lion, Baldre, on Easter Sunday. Visitors, so wanted to impress, and the staff here didn’t let us down! 5 of us with 2 dogs and had amazing food, looked after so well by the staff! Thank you all for a lovely Easter Sunday lunch!
