Just received a £90 parking fine from a company called EURO CAR PARKSn01/09/2024 15.14.30 inn01/09/2024 17.03 outnMachine would not let us put more than £2 in for parkingnNo ticket asked staff who could not give an answer.nFood was goodnStaff behind the bar new had to ask for help with order, not all drinks received had to chase up felt really sorry for her as she did her best.
I was fortunate to have the Manager's Special 4.99 for fish, chips, and garden peas.nI also had a portion of onion rings and a side order of roasted vegetables. The main meal was good, but the sides weren't the best.nThe Shipyard craftbeer was very good, too.nJust over £11.00 for the filling feast.nSunday night is quiz night.
The red lion is a typical JD wetherspoons set in a lovely old building. It offers the same menu and beverages as most of the others.nThe food was nothing special it was cheap and it hit the spot, the staff were friendly.nThere is parking available next to the pub and its pay and display. It is close to the town centre so it's ideal for a spot of lunch while shopping.
Well, it's a weatherspoons pub, so it does what it says 'on the tin'. A wide menu selection, with a soft drink or beer for £10 or less. Curry, pizzas, burgers, fish, and chips. Ice cream, etc. The place is huge, with lots of smaller areas that all flow into one another. There is a pay and display car park at the side, but be careful parking here as I got a parking ticket. The festival car park is only 1 minute walk away and free after 6 pm. You order and pay at the bar for food. You need to tell them your table number, or you can download the app and order from your phone while sitting at the table. There is free WiFi that you have to sign in to use. It's never too busy in the evenings. You can usually get a table. There are tvs always on and fruit machines if you don't value your money..
AVOID UNLESS COMING BY FOOT- You will definitely receive a parking fine from a scam company called Euro Car Parks. Parking machines require coins and conveniently do not work correctly. No card or online payments available curiously, despite 90% of modern transactions being such. As you would imagine, JD Wetherspoons says, 'Sorry, nothing to do with us, mate', and the next person gets a fine. Outrageous and enough to put me off this chain for life.
