A wonderfully welcoming spot right in the center of town with a warm fire, delicious beverages both beers and the coffee is exquisite and great food. The rooms as cozy and you really feel like the place has been there since the beginning of time. That said, the rooms feel fresh and clean and the beds are comfy. While currently not dog-friendly, we understand there's plans to bring some rooms online which would allow four-legged guests to be as welcome as the two-legged ones. Rooms: Cozy, freshly updated and clean. Nearby activities: Right in the center of town. Plenty of good walks to head out on and if you're there on a market day, it's only a minute away. Walkability: About 4 minutes from the train station and 1 minute from the center of town. Great base from which to head out on hikes in the area. Food & drinks: Great range of drinks and the food is delicious and the produce fresh.
We visited the pub about 4 o’clock, nice decor but unfortunately my friend has a nut allergy we asked at the bar if Some cakes had nuts in. Bing from a waitress point of view You should’ve realised that your customer had a nut allergy or even confirmed it with a customer, the cake we ended up buying had walnuts in it. The cake was labeled incorrectly and was labeled as a different cake. My friend started to flareup, we didn’t have to get an ambulance out due to having medication. We approached the manager and just seem to argue with us that my friend should’ve had a card on her, and putting it back on the customer which is unacceptable. We didn’t ask for a refund as some of the cake had been eaten but wanted to make the manager aware that this is dangerous. She was extremely defensive and argumentative and made it out like it was my friends fault, even though she had asked.
We love having breakfast here. Dogs are welcome. Its clean and warm. Great friendly service. Food is fantastic and prices are really good. Lovely smoothies. Our dog enjoyed his bacon and sausage. Looking forward to trying their Sunday lunch. They cater well for gluten free also.Service: 5/5
Called in briefly on Wednesday. Nice drop of beer, friendly barman, and, unusually, pastries for sale on the counter as well as cigars. Tried one of the former £2.50, which though small, was tasty and quite filling... Food & drinks: Beer was a nice one can't remember what it was and the pastry was tasty, although some might have found it a bit too rich and sweet... Noteworthy details: Comfortable, nicely appointed pub with helpful barman.
Excellent breakfast. I would only change the bread to a fresh sourdough. Everything else was absolutely fabulous. Great service as well. Will be coming back for a dinner as food is really promising. Not to mention the interior and the garden makes it the best looking gasto pub in the area. Well done!
Good pub for drinking, with beer that's always good. Wine and spirits selection is also very nice. Located close to station and the centre of town. Lovely little garden for summer Favourite bar in Petersfield.Service: 5/5
Staffs are nice. Good vibe. I Recommended.
We stayed overnight here last weekend & unfortunately came away dissatisfied with our visit. To start positively, the room was aesthetically lovely, bed was comfortable & the en-suite was very nice too. However, the negatives outweigh the positives from our stay here: - We arrived before check in as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were advised by a staff member the only place to leave our bags was stuffed in a corner of the bar area. We then had to ask how we’d be able to access the room if arriving later that night. We were shown our room but apparently bags couldn’t be put within it? If we hadn’t asked the staff member, we would’ve likely been locked out of the place as there’s no one present after the bar/cafe closes. - As seen in another review, there was overly loud banging from below our room from very early in the morning that woke us up & kept us awake. Whilst we appreciate the building is old & sound travels easily, it was quite obvious whoever was below in the kitchen wasn’t trying to be considerate of guests staying as doors were being slammed loudly constantly etc. - For a £160 in a room of a pub we expected some sort of decent breakfast. What was left out for us as a ‘continental breakfast’ was some croissants which tasted stale, we were brought over some toast & a lady behind the bar offered us a coffee. We could pay £10 extra for a Full English but were not shown any other breakfast menu which is served to people visiting the bar/cafe. We noticed others were having other dishes we might have paid for, we just weren’t offered any menu for it. - There was zero hospitality from the woman who appeared to be looking after guests at breakfast. We felt as though our presence immediately put her out & just sitting there felt like we were further inconveniencing her. She came across quite rude & abrupt in her contact with us. - When waiting to check out at the station we were directed to to try & check in we were again abruptly told not to try & check out there & go to whoever was behind the bar. Overall, I’d say this experience was sub-standard for the price paid & unwelcoming. It felt like what seemed like a nice cafe/bar/pub that didn’t wish to or didn’t know how to offer hospitality service to it’s overnight guests. It is a shame as it could be a really pleasant place to stay, we just didn’t get that.
Didn’t stay here, just popped in for a beer after getting off the train. Wish I hadn’t bothered. 3 cask ales from The Long Man Brewery- appalling condition, couldn’t even finish the tasters. So went for Guinness that was poured so badly it didn’t have a head.
Great venue for a friendly welcome and comfortable drink with friends and family. Thanks ChrisService: 5/5
