Lovely, welcoming pub by the waterside. Service was impeccable, the vegan and vegetarian menu was so enticing that it was hard to decide what to eat. Beautiful unusual flavours. I had the paneer, spinach and chickpea satay which was comforting and filling. Sad that I didn't have enough space for the chocolate, mango and passion fruit pudding. Excited to have found this place and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. It's inspired me to cook!
A really fun pub by the riverside with an amazing vegan menu. It also allows dogs inside which is a big plus if you want to dine in with your pup. Food was great and I would highly recommend this.
Delightful pub with the kind of inventive cooking I wish existed before I moved away from Oxford 10 years ago. Outdoor space is also great to have these days, staff are attentive as well! Only a short walk from the train station, it backs into a very pleasant river walk you can take afterwards. Will hopefully return on future visits.
Had heard great things from family and it didn't dissapoint. Lovely staff, great wall art, in a beautiful part of Oxford by the river, centrally located near town and station. All veggie menu with lots of vegan options and no meat in sight. But would reccomend trying even if you're normally a carnivore. A pub with great drink options but in the same league as a restaurant for food. Menu inventive and well executed. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan only restaurant.
This place is AMAZING!!! All veg gastro pub with several vegan options. Food was flavourful, perfectly seasoned, and in great portions. Great service. Dog-friendly. Would have loved to try their desserts but we were super full at the end of our meal. You can also find local beers here. Vegetarian options: All veg.
The Punter is a vegan and Vegetarian pub. Sadly we were too early for food so I will have to update this review again when we are able to visit again. There isn't wheelchair access but the pub were willing to let me go in through the back gate and my friends hoiked the chair through the back door which has a slight step. This pub was an instant win because it has a large roaring fire as you walk in. The staff were also extra friendly and it has a great atmosphere due to the amazing decor, lighting and decor. Probably worth booking for food. Will come again!
There was nothing I could complain about. I did not know that The Punter is a vegetarian/vegan pub but i was positively surprised. We had some dill humus to start with and it was simply amazing as I love dill. Not too expensive though it cost only 4.5£. I had a refried bean burger which was confusing for me as a regular meat eater but it was a good vegetarian dish. Pasta which was ordered by my girlfriend stole the whole show as it was magnificent, I would give it 10 out of 10. Main dishes cost something around 14-17£ depending on what you're going to choose. Service was good just as it should be, quick polite and professional. We didn't have to wait ages to be served and be checked on. They deserve my 5 star review.
Fantastic place. Maybe one of my fanciest vegan meals in the UK? Right on the Thames, great food, helpful staff. Well-crafted vegan dishes in a lovely setting.
Love this boozer. The snacks and starters are my favourite to go for and usually share these with a group of friends. They have a great, small drinks list and a handful of cocktails to choose from. Beautiful setting by the river. Go check this veggie pub out
We stopped here for dinner, as we were in the area and needed a place to stop. We were so pleased that we did. The setting is absolutely superb and reminded us of some of the waterways in France. The attractive building sits on the corner of a row of quaint terraced cottages, opposite the river. A quiet tree lined street lies in between. If you are fortunate enough, a bench seat faces the water so you can grab a pew and enjoy a refreshing drink. There's even a box, for you to place the dirty glasses. The walls of the restaurant are bedecked with striking art, adding to the ambience. We had two starters including - asparagus and aubergine, three mains the burger, polenta, a chocolate torte for pudding plus drinks - all absolutely superb. The bill was £90, for the three of us. Well worth the money for the effort involved, preparing the dishes. The staff were friendly and efficient providing a good service. Dogs are allowed inside and out. The large outside space is undercover with pretty lights. Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian, The Punter is well worth a visit if you are in Oxford and want something different.
