"Located on the beautiful Osney Island in Oxford, the Holly Bush is a neighbourhood hangout serving up freshly made artisan pizzas, bubbling pots of comfort food and seriously tasty beers. Our gorgeous wood-fired oven cooks all our pizzas and pots from fresh at a scorching 290 degrees. We cater for everyone so we've also got gluten-free and vegan options available too. Oh, and we also love dogs, meaning they are most welcome to join you in our bar area."

Good food. We had pizza and mac and cheese. It was great. Portion size was also quite good. Mac and cheese is recommended. Nice ambience. Though backyard could be more fun but not bad for a sunny day.
Mediocre service - and incredibly poor speed of said service - with over a 45 minute wait for food, and when said food arrived, although it was certainly nice, it was nothing special A limited menu was being served, with no forewarning/mention of this on the pub's website or Facebook page, which was disappointing, and despite booking a table which was accepted by the pub prior to our visit we still had to wait in a 'food queue' behind what seemed to be a party of about 20 people - which would probably explain the 45 minute wait for food. Had we known there was going to be such a large party present when we visited and that we would have to wait so long for food, we probably wouldn't have come in the first place. As said, although the food was nice and piping hot which is always good, it was expensive for what it was, and as for the drinks; just under £10 for a large glass of wine and a 330ml bottle of fruit juice was extremely overpriced The drinks that were bought to be consumed with the food ended up being finished long before the food arrived, and at those prices it couldn't be justified to purchase a second round. It appears there were far too many staff behind the bar, and not enough in the kitchen, which we felt was linked to the slow speed of food being served. The decor and atmosphere in the pub is nice and vibrant, although a bit cramped especially when busy, however I can't say we'll be in any rush to return. A disappointing visit overall
Amazingly I've never been inside this pub but have literally walked past a 1000 times! Not today. Popped in for a pint a and look around, drawn in by the Secret Garden sign. So this is a drink and ambience review as we didn't eat. It's deceptively spacious inside and pleasant. There is a small garden with lots of suns shades and seating. We sat inside by the large open doors. Food is by a Pizza oven but we didn't see any as it was quiet. Maybe we will come back and try one out. Two for one on Mondays......!
For someone living close here, it's great to have some pizza or a drink. Staff are nice, atmosphere is great and the food is really good. I would highly recommend.
Situated on the Osney Island in Oxford, it's one of the two pubs for the islanders. In addition to being a warm, cozy and lovely public place, it also hosts Pub Quiz on Wednesdays; has a fantastic Sunday lunch menu and a pizza menu 2 for 1 on Mondays. They have a good selection of pizzas, including vegan options. On Mondays, you can enjoy two delicious and fresh pizzas for just £ 10. There is seating area in the open small as well as inside. Few cons : service is slightly slow waiting times tend to be longer than the expected time shown at the time of ordering and drinks are a bit expensive can understand that !
This is quite a nice pub but the secret beer garden is very scruffy. Pizza was nice but of the other 3 meat mains 2 were unavailable and the third, beef brisket and beans, which should have been okay, was ruined by being excessively sweet. Also no milk available for coffee.
Would give a five only reason I wont is because every time I've had a roast I look forward to the greens but didn't have any other than that food spot on
Cozy pub and nice staff. However, the veggie roast was a bit mean small portions, just 2 small roast potatoes and my friend's 'Margot' pizza was over cooked and looked like a frozen pizza despite their nice looking oven!
What a great pub! No doubts about it! It has everything a "real community pub" should have. 1. Great food cooked by a delightful group of skilled chefs, all done, right in front of the customer. 2. A large array of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages sold at reasonable prices. Something for everyone. 3. Dog friendly with dog treats available for free at the bar. 4. Music played throughout the day but never overly loud. There is a piano! 5. A Beer garden for the summer days and nice and toasty in the winter, mostly because of the pizza oven!!! 6. Events organised regularly. From DJs to Bands to quizzes. 7. Very clean toilets with nice smelling handwash gels. Quite posh! 8. The Regulars are welcoming and don't give new visitors the "look" you get in some pubs that make you feel like everybody is staring at you... And I think that's about it!? Oh, I nearly forgot the most important thing. The star of the show. Liam the Landlord. An amazing guy with amazing stories from his long experience in running pubs. He makes the pub what it is. A home away from home.
Located in Osney, close to the Oxford station, it is a nice pub that offers handmade fire cooked pizza eat 2 for 1 on Mondays, normal beers, and occasionally live music. Right spot to escape from the city centre chaotic life.
