This hospital lacks communication between departments and lacks any sense of responsibility for making things run as smoothly as possible. I have spent countless phone calls initially trying to get my child into see a consultant. Was told different version of where he could go and how quickly he could be seen. Finally he gets to see a consultant. All well I thought until I call the insurance company to find out they are still waiting for a medical report and treatment plan. So my son has started therapy but the insurance company have not received the treatment plan so I could end up paying the bill.!!!!! I left 5 messages regarding this and no one has got back to me. I rang today to be told there is no treatment plan or medical report on their files yet my son has started therapy..... The only person who has made any sense at all is Sam who is a temp and obviously only learning . If you get a choice of where you go for therapy, forget this place because you will end up chasing your own tail. I can't even get to talk to someone in charge. It's a disgrace considering this place deals with mental health.
Ana-Cristina helped me more than words can describe. Professional, caring & courteous all the time. From our first session, it was like a huge weight had been lifted from me and each sessions there-in where progressive and informative. Ana-Cristina is very knowledgeable and was able to pick up, identify and help me to solve all of my issues.
I don’t really know where to start with my recommendation of Kinga Oldham at The Priory. She has been the key to my recovery. She has helped me to understand me, understand how my mental health has affected my actions, helped me see what has caused it and given me help with how to tackle them. She is empathic, understanding and quite frankly I can honestly say I think I owe her my life and health. Without Kinga I would be in a very different place. She is a life saver and anyone who has her as a therapist has the best start on the road to recovery.
Terrible experience! Awful communication, spent 5 weeks chasing & chasing to be told my daughters referral had been passed to the Manchester wellness centre. Spoke to them. Couldnt offer an appointment for 4 months. Felt like I've wasted 5 weeks for nothing when my daughter could've been seen elsewhere weeks ago. Now back to square 1. Not happy.
Besides the incidents that caused my PTSD I have to say that dealing with The Priory is without doubt 1 of the worst experiences of my life. 2 x therapists and 1 x doctor failed to attend virtual meetings yet I was still charged. After raising a formal complaint I received a report from the Hospital Director, Mark Haslam, apologising for the 1st therapists failure to attend. Even worse he stated I was at fault for the failed appointment with the 2nd therapist, an appointment I was charged for as I cancelled apparently. The fact that I was so mistrustful that I took video whilst waiting for the host to join which has time and date stamp has been totally ignored. I also have Emails to confirm the appointment time as arranged to support my case, also ignored by Mark in his response. A painful experience and 1 that has had a huge negative impact on my mental health. I went to the Priory because I believed they were meant to be the best. I could not gave been proven more wrong.
The Priory Hospital saved my life. I stayed as an inpatient for 28 days on the ATP Addiction Treatment Programme in September 2019. I was diagnosed with Depression whilst there and received the very best treatment with my Consultant at the hospital. The 28 day stay taught me everything about Addiction and how to recover from the hopeless state of addiction. The ATP therapists are amazing. The daily activities, 7 days a week, educated me, gave me hope, showed me how to live my life without any mind altering drugs and gave my whole family hope. The aftercare meetings I attend are invaluable. 2 meetings a week with the ATP staff and other ex Priory residents, where we continue to talk and work on our recovery. Overall, the Priory Hospital is the place to go, if you need help. In terms of facilities...I had a lovely single room, 3 square meals a day and I felt safe and supported at all times. This environment enabled me to turn my life around. I am so grateful to the Priory Hospital and the ATP therapists...they really did save my life.
Arguably the most backward place in history. held against my will whilst being told that I should be there. Had my own treatment withheld which actually manages my symptoms. Didn't realise that people could take away your rights for the personal pleasure. I didn't realise how corrupt mental health organisations are!!!
I was reluctantly admitted to The Priory Hospital - Altrincham in October 2109 and I can honestly say through that my life has been transformed! I wasn't an alcoholic and didn't need help! Until I entered The Priory, the ATP Addiction Treatment Program team and the other hospital staff helped me to see the mess my life was in and what the cause of that was - yes I was an alcoholic! By listening to the ATP team who are experienced recovered addicts I was led to the AA program of 12 steps, by putting in the action and changing things little by little I now have a life that is amazing. An awesome part of The Priory program for addiction is the aftercare - meetings for me and my family. For the addict like me, we have all been through the hospital and can help each other through our experiences, one meeting is a mixed meeting and one is male/female only. The family have a group of people who have had an addict in their family and are able to share and help each other. Together we can see the wood through the trees! It is so worth it - one of the best things I have ever done - thank you ATP team and hospital staff :
I am an alcoholic and was admitted to The Priory in January 2021 for rehabilitation for a period of 28 days. Whilst, like many others, I did not wish to go, the experience has however, changed my life. I am so grateful to all at The Priory, from the ward staff, the medical staff and most importantly for me, the amazing therapists in the addiction treatment programme. All patients are treated with the utmost respect, dignity and curtesy and every therapist goes the extra mile to ensure each individual patient is offered every benefit the programme has to offer. Although it is early days into my recovery, I wish to place on record my grateful thanks to everyone at The Priory for a chance to live a better life without alcohol.
Was prescribed medications I should not have been prescribed. Experienced horrific side effects from the various "medications" I was prescribed and also became addicted to and experienced withdrawal symptoms from a "medication". Overall my mental health has become worse as a result of going to the Priory. I strongly advise you save your money/health/life and don't go here. At the end of the day there is no current cures to mental illness and lifestyle changes/diet/exercise can give you benefits but without the risks. I just wish I hadn't made the mistake of going to the Priory. Its a business at the end of the day and a lot of people have been harmed by it. Self care and self help are free and risk free and can potentially have great benefits. I'd warn against going to the Priory and taking the various pills they're all to willing to give you without explaining the risks or giving you any advice on how to take and more importantly how to stop taking. And after all this I tried to talk to Dr Haslam about this and his secretary said I couldn't talk to him and basically needed to go elsewhere. I wish I didn't have to go through what they've put me through. But if I can save one person by stopping you going here, it was in some way worth it to protect you. Don't go to the Priory.
