I enjoyed my meal and so did my Mrs. Decent food at sensible prices and unlimited veg including chips. The premises are in good order, clean and tidy too. Also the staff were polite and helpful. Only criticism we could make would be the cauliflower was a bit on the hard side. We would certainly recommend this place for a spot good value lunch.
Great for a quick roast dinner at a very reasonable price. It can be a rather dried out offering if you go late in the afternoon. They do another menu, but I've not tried it. Think of it as more of a McDonald's type place rather than fine dining. We'll worth a visit.
Don't bother!! Went there for a carvery on Mothers Day at 4pm. Service was abysmal!! After being ignored at the bar for almost 10 minutes, the bar maid called me to "come over" don't know why she couldn't come to me to the other end of the bar. Having said I had a table booked, before I had a chance to order drinks to take to the table she disappeared towards the carvery and we were clearly expected to follow! We then had to wait again to order drinks and pay for the food. The menu content and prices were different to the advertised one the website - the carvery was £3.30 more than online!!!! The carvery was average, hence the 2 stars, but nothing special. The dessert again, not as the website, and didn't have everything available on the menu given to us. The liqueur coffee was a none starter - no Tia Maria barmaid didn't even know what it was and no Bailey's. Needless to say I won't be going back!!!
See below as I changed this to a three star after my last visit. Still pleasant and food is good but tables weren't clean on this occasion. On my first visit I wrote....Friendly staff, clean and pleasant environment. Meat was a little dry but that's what gravy is for. Worth a try
Used to be very good but when visiting again recently for their breakfast the food was not very good and took ages to be brought out. The eggs were rubbery, the Quorn sausages weren't cooked properly and were very tough, the toaster wasn't working so was only bread not to mention hygiene issues with people taking bread directly from the bag and staff did nothing to deter a large group of builders hanging around the food, eating it while waiting, and selfishly hogging and taking the food when it comes out.
Used to be my favourite pub, but recently went down. Some staff members are not really competent, waiting for food by order can be really long for simple things like chips and nuggets more than 30 minutes of waiting. But carvery is just delicious and that's why I will keep going back there. I just love their roast gammon and pork, Yorkshire pudding and all delicious veggies.
Disappointed again! Visited last Saturday @ 6.45pm as family of five. There was one small piece of dried up beef, one half chicken, few sausages and slices of dried up pie. So no gammon, no turkey, no fish, not enough chicken etc. Was told by staff that they had been busy during the day! This was at 6.45! Where was the chef, why had more food not been prepared. This is not an unreasonable time to go out for a meal and needless to say we were very disappointed. I have to say that this is not the first time that we have been to this Carvery around the same time of evening and there was no food. Perhaps breakfast is a better bet!!
It's a nice place at right time of day. Time it wrong the food stands are empty with large wait. Or it is dry and not appetizing. Often a fair wait and can get very busy. Very good value for money tho. Staff nice.
I haven't been here for over a year but went in today with my family. so disappointed. We was served very quickly by the bar staff and politely. had to wait 5 mins at the carvery as no one there and when we was acknowledged told will be 5 minutes just bringing out some food. after 5 mins we sat back down. 5 minutes later a gent come over and told us he was ready when we are. we had 2 young children with us so we got there meals along with one of the adult meals. we seated the kids and I went back and had to wait another 5 minutes for someone to return again. The food quality was poor. very fatty meat, stuffing was hard and roast potatoes was luke warm. on the sauce table the tomato sauce in a bowl had a number of flies around it. The place looked unloved, there was no cutlery on the table or the tables close by and food on the floor. we was so disappointed we did not even finish our food. Don't think I will be returning any time soon
Manager is a racist served people before us, spoke to us very rudely! Stating that we have the hump over not having gluten free gravy, which we didnt, manager is extremely incompetent and finds it funny to speak to us in that manner in front of her customers.
