The Prince of Wales

About

The Prince of Wales is a Taylor Walker pub originally built in the late 1800's. We offer a plethora of great food, craft beers, real ales, and the rest.

Story

Prince Of Wales is a traditional British pub in Wimbledon serving great cask ales and freshly cooked traditional pub food.

The Prince of Wales was formerly a 17th century coaching inn, frequently visited by Dick Turpin during his highway man years. The old cellar in the pub, now known as Bertie’s Bar, Kitchen and Courtyard was previously built to shelter travellers’ horses. . Opening Berties in 1971 involved demolishing much of the original stonework and now only the cobbles beneath the flagstones remain as a reminder of the past. Built in 1870, the house only became known as the Prince of Wales after 1891 when 20,000 British soldiers were paraded before the Kaiser on Wimbledon Common

As venues go, the location couldn't be better. Great security on the door and a very nice welcome. We were there a drag bingo event. The show was great, fun interactions and the drinks well made and poured. Would have been great to have had some table service in the bingo... I'd have spent more for sure! Also, the one thing that was a shame was the bar team packing up before the end... Made it feel I shouldn't drink more! Really enjoyable night though and we will be back.
Fun, young crowd, and good music depending on the DJs. Rooftop area and dance spaces on 3 levels. I don’t think I’ll go again as it was a very young crowd but it was enjoyable the night that I was there. Last minute ticket: £20
One of the worst experience ever. The venue is nice but the security is arrogant, unprofessional, confrontational. The bouncers seem to enjoy threating customers, having no good manners at all. Their presence is not discreet and to some extent they force client to leave earlier since they make the place very unpleasant, confronting people for no reason. I have been there with some friends and we really did not feel welcomed there. I saw people being thrown out from the club for no reason, I have been followed by a member of the security in the bathroom just because he wanted to be sure I was not taking drugs or other stuff. Moreover, privacy is violated since they scan IDs without providing information on how they guarantee the security of the personal data, for how long they will store the data and other basic measures. The Prince of Disgrace.
This place is an incredible venue to visit in Brixton, and has some of the nicest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered. The menu is amazing and offers a wide variety which is perfect for a large group of friends with different likes and dislikes. The security makes me feel extremely safe and are always very respectful. The music is also incredible and I really enjoy it. Overall I would highly recommend visiting .
The location and venue is good but unfortunately completely ruined by rude arrogant and threatening security. After all of my friends being pulled into rooms to be searched after being following around all night and made to feel extremely uncomfortable i then had a bouncer square up to me shouting, swearing and making threats saying how he is going to ruin my night. 100% will never come back to this venue after this experience. I’d think twice if you’re coming here expecting good vibes and a friendly experience as the bouncers put a stop to that on purpose it seems!!!
We went here to see the fabulous Michel Gray play at his new night Sultra. We liked everything about the venue, the music and the staff, with the exception of the overzealous bespectacled door-lady who seemed to thrive on bossing a lot of people about and doing her best to impose her presence on everyone. She even threw one guy out despite him completely behaving himself, his only offence seemingly being a little under the influence. But he was certainly not at a point where he was in need of ejecting. But for her behaviour, I would have rated the venue a five stars.
Disgusting service. No respect for guests. I ordered wine. The staff came to my table empty-handed and told me to go to the bar and pick up glasses and a bottle of wine myself. I had to go back and forth twice to pick up my order at this time the staff stood and looked at it. Really?!
Prince of wales as busy as it is I found the staff and Security very polite and helpful which made me feel at ease and safe . Security seemed on ball with any problems that occurred during the evening .
Saturday 5pm. We ordered two beers, burger come cold and fries- no spicy sauce as it says in menu. Sorry but that was first and last time when I visited here..
Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning. It's still quiet and lovely great for large groups, service was very good and fast. Breakfast was decent and big , really liked the bread. Friday and Saturday evening soul2samba reggae 2 rock night looks interesting, will check that out next time! I've been to the roof top bar for a dub step night before , it was a bit grubby but I had an amazing time. I would rate it 4 stars for night outs.
