The Plough Inn is situated at the top of the square in the picturesque village of Hillsborough. The famous family owned business boasts an excellent reputation for hospitality, atmosphere, wonderful food & Live Music.

First visit and definitely will return. We just called in without booking but I would strongly recommend booking first. We had the roast beef. It was really good food.. plenty on the plate and the separate plate of veg was delicious!!! Really appreciated the service at this lovely place.
We had a beautiful lunch in a lovely quaint restaurant. Highly recommended !
Quick service and great food. Could do with a few more plant-based options.
Lovely pub and restaurant / bistro. The food we had was a cut above most pub offerings, and is reflected in the prices. Certainly not expensive, but you get what you pay for here. The Plough has three areas: Public Bar, Vintage Rooms and Bistro - each with their own menu. We ate in the public bar. Great quality food and the staff were great too.
Called in here for dinner after paying a visit to the queen's flowers at Hillsborough and have to say absolutely delighted that we did! There was 2 of us and both couldn't believe how amazing the food was!! We both had the Italian job off the specials menu and it was the most amazing burger ever! Will be visiting again
Stopped for lunch but ended up having a 3 course meal. The food was delicious, quality produce, immaculately presented and scrumptious. Superb selection of drinks. Worth the divert to Hillsborough Parking: Best parking at the rear
Food gorgeous... staff friendly barman funny .... cosy wee place .. family bar restaurant...wee will be back
We went to the Plough Inn for my birthday dinner last week. Had booked a table for two for 7pm, arrived at 5 to 7 and were told the table had to be cleared by 8.15pm - a quick enough turn around. We ordered soft drinks and were asked several times did we not want want vodka with it - fortunately we weren't drinking because I was driving and my partner didn't fancy it, but very unprofessional if someone at the table maybe had a drinking problem. We waited 25 minutes for our orders to be taken remember we only had an hour 15mins at the table waited another 15 mins for our share board of breads, when this was cleared we asked for another two soft drinks and bottle of water again asked did we not want vodka in those and we didn't get these until our mains were finished - at which point we had no time to drink them and they were therefore wasted because we had to leave our table - we were not asked if we wanted dessert menus and we didn't ask to see one because quite frankly the time frame given wouldn't have allowed it! I know Christmas is a busy period, but the table had been booked, it was a Tuesday evening and if they can't comfortably fit the booking they shouldn't take it - the table of two beside us, seated at the same time, were not told any time limit on their table! Have to say, food was excellent, but staffing and organisation leaves a lot to be desired - we won't be back. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian risotto was lovely, however a few additional choices would have been good given there were only two options and one was a starter
Visited for Sunday lunch today, ordered the roast beef which came out luke warm at best could tell it had been sitting for a while. Beef was dry, the two roast potatoes I was served were rock solid and the mash was bland. Very poor vegetarian option, whole roast butter nut squash bland and tasteless and was an effort to eat. Butter nut squash served with tastless tofu and one singular garlic clove to go with a full squash. Definitely not worth the £19 for the beef and £16 for the squash
The food was brilliant, so well presented and tasted fantastic. Good portion sizes as well. Brilliant kids menu, staff were great, and everything very well set up in light of Covid-19. Really enjoyed lunch here and we'll definitely go back.
