The Plough Inn
"friendly independent pub restaurant in the picturesque North Downs of Kent, then look no further. Located in between everywhere from Maidstone to Canterbury, Sittingbourne to Ashford; why not leave the towns behind and escape to the country. With local beers, wines & ciders plus a vast selection of gins, rums & whiskies to suit all tastes, all in our family-run pub. The menu is full of all those favourite treats, offering a balance of traditional dishes and those with a special twist. We believe in sourcing our ingredients as locally as possible and always of a high quality. Our main menus change seasonally and our blackboard of specials changes from day to day, and last but by no means least don’t forget the traditional Sunday roast!"

After a long journey I arrived at the Plough inn and was greeted warmly and with smiles all round. Very friendly staff and they were all happy and very relaxed and friendly. What a lovely country pub with a real fire and genuine people. My room was absolutely fantastic , it was more like a flat than a room and had everything I needed. The menu was superb and the food was exquisite. An absolute Gem with gorgeous views and fabulous food ….. all set in a beautiful location. Will definitely be visiting again . A big thank you to everyone at The Plough Inn for making my stay so memorable.
Great service and fantastic food. Not a large menu but a very good choice to suit everyone. We can't fault the quality of the food or the presentation. We were served by a very chirpy guy who was very attentive without being too eager. Certainly going again. Best birthday meal I've had for sure.
A wonderful 2 night stay. The friendly team, the views, the atmosphere, the food were all fantastic. Only one teeny point is that if you ask for twin beds they are tiny and far narrower than a standard singles which are OK for kids but not adults. Rooms: Gorgeous rooms with lounge area, bedroom and gorgeous full bathrooms all with beautiful views Food & drinks: Food was incredible! My husband said the fish and chips were the best he has ever eaten and he has had a lot of F&C! The steak was delicious too as were the starters.
My wife and I cannot believe that we have lived about 30 minutes away from such a gorgeous place for most of my life and all of her’s. The friendliness of the staff and locals is unmatchable, not to mention the gorgeous surroundings. We have travelled many miles over the years in our Motorhome and have visited a lot of lovely places in the British isles, but the Plough at Stalisfield green is something else !
I recommend going to this place for a lovely Sunday roast! I had the chicken that was moist and had a beautifully crisp skin. Special mention to the red cabbage which tasted delicious. For a starter we had the baked Mont d’Or cheese on the recommendation of the waiter over the baked Camembert, and it tasted really nice. No room for dessert, but the options looked good. Service was brilliant as well.
My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend at the Plough Inn. Is a perfect getaway! Luckily, some of their rooms are dog friendly so we took our dog Teddy. Room is super well thought out. It has everything you need, really well furnished and spotless clean. We had breakfast brought to the room in the morning and it was perfect. Marianne was a superb host! Thank you much for making our stay so comfortable and Pleasent. Food & drinks: We had dinner at the pub and the food was delicious. I had the fried chicken with tangy chili glaze for starter and for the main I had the sea bream with mussel chowder from their specials menu. Sooo good! We had the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was divine!
Stayed 4 nights at the Plough and it was excellent. Warm friendly welcome, excellent food and attentive service. Great central location for walks or visits to many attractions in Kent. Food & drinks: Excellent quality menu, great chef. Noteworthy details: Great accommodation spacious quiet rooms
Not the easiest place to get to if you’re not a fan of country roads. Feels like forever to get there. But it was so worth it! And the food was 11/10! I had to rush off but can’t wait to visit again and spend the whole evening there. What a beautiful pub!Service: 4/5
Just had Sunday lunch for two and could not fault it. The apple and sparsely soup, sounded bizzare, but was just beautiful. We then had roast beef, which was cooked to perfection and the best roast potatoes in Kent. Service and atmosphere were perfect the nicest place to enjoy Sunday lunch. Highly recommend a drive out to the Plough Inn. We'll be back soon.
We stayed in our campervan overnight in the pubs camping field this past very wet weekend. After setting up we went off for a walk exploring the paths and lanes that surround this very quiet and rural location. When we got back the open fire was roaring away and the drinks tasted better. Dinner was up there with the best I've had. A long way from pub grub but served and tasting more like city fine dining without the price tag. I need to emphasise, the food is amazing. The staff and owners and regulars who joined us to watch the rugby on our iPad were friendly and the whole afternoon lovely despite the weather. This will now be a regular overnight getaway in our calendar.
