I assume this restaurant has recently changed hands because the menu didn't look at all like the ones in previous reviews. We were tempted in by 'tapas' and I'm sure that over the next weeks and months the offer will evolve into something more authentic, something that includes some form of vegetable or salad and a nod towards Spanish flavours. As it was we had 11 deep fried items including onion bhaji, brie bites, halloumi fries, loaded fries and fish cakes. A lot of fat and carbs. Have to say the welcome was very warm and the staff were lovely. The beer was local and well kept. Maybe the chef might consider wearing an apron - there was a lot of whispering and coming and going to the kitchen which brought attention to the swing door which is very dirty. Probably just an oversight but this might put some customers off in the current climate. Good luck with the tapas menu - here's hoping it becomes a local favourite full of tempting Spanish flavours! We paid £53 for food and drinks for 3 people.
We had a birthday meal for my Partner with her family. There we 16 of us and the food was absolutely fabulous. Service was also really good. All the food came out together and was piping hot. Well done to tha team at the Carriage and thank you for a lovely evening. We will definitely be returning.
Always good, top quality local ingredients cooked to perfection and excellent value. Attentive and knowledgeable service as well. I have food allergies and like any good restaurant that prepares and cooks it's own dishes thus is never a problem. I do not feel a nuisance and have confidence they take allergies seriously.
Faversham has lots of pubs that do food and lots of cafe's, but not many restaurants and The Carriage is definitely a cut above. The room is really nice with well spaced tables. We were there on a rainy Wednesday lunchtime and it was very quiet so I will be keen to return on a weekend when it's busier. We had the set menu which is great value at 15.95 for 3 great courses. I had pigeon for my starter...delicious, and the pork belly main. The whole menu was really tempting including the non meat offerings. It's attached to a Shepherd Neame pub so no problem getting a decent pint with your meal if you prefer it to wine. Tap water provided as soon as we sat down without having to ask, which I like. My one small gripe could be that no bread offered, but overall definitely recommended. Friendly unobtrusive service.
Visited here for a Saturday set 3-course lunch. Atmosphere was great with excellent service and even better food. The set menu is very reasonably priced, as are the drinks options. Service is friendly and unobstrusive. One thing I would recommend is a wider selection of coffee and tea options to have after the meal but this is a minor point. Overall it was great and look forward to visiting here again.
An unprepossessing outside belies an excellent lunch experience inside! Interesting menu, lots of good choice & when the food appeared it was even better than we expected. Lovely couple running this excellent restaurant, very good price £11.90 for 2 course lunch - try it, you won't be disappointed, we'll certainly be back.
Luckily we purchased during the government offer. Not like the previous people running it, very basic pub food. Surf and turf is not 3 defrosted prawns, gristley steak and aldi sweet potato fries.. £17!
Beautiful tasty slow cooked Belly Pork, excellent!
Absolutely lovely food, highly recommend popping in for a bite. It took a little while to get to us but if your not in a rush and want quality with a small but good selection try it
Excellent food. Incredible value for money. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. I genuinely love this place and feel lucky to have it on my doorstep.
