Great food, the service was good but a smile with the service would have been even better. One of my favourites. Definitely worth the 30 minute driveFood: 5/5
What a pleasant surprise, beautiful old 16th century pub with a warm greeting, great food and service. The best BLT I’ve ever had. Give it a try if you’re in the area Parking: Free parking outside and opposite
Had a very enjoyable meal at The Peacock Inn tonight, which really made up for our disaster dinner somewhere else last night. The steak and Guiness pie was excellent as was the fishcake, and we loved the cheeseboard we had to follow. Friendly service, fresh homemade food, and a nice atmosphere, definitely recommended! Update March 2024 - back again for a short stay in the area and ate here both nights. Still just as good as last time!
I came for lunch today to celebrate my friends birthday and was very disappointed. My husband and I have been coming to the Peacock for many years so it was natural for me to book a table for my friends birthday lunch, we were given the menu which was very limited but ordered the fish pie which was not as tasty as usual and had very little fish in it. The table next to us had pies so we thought there must have been a page missing from the menu. Our plates were cleared and we were offered the dessert menu, after about 30 minutes I had to go to the bar and fetch the menu myself, it was at this time I noticed the special menu board. After another long wait we ordered 2 banoffee pies, again very disappointed all biscuit base and cream very little caramel and banana in the middle. We were then not even offered tea or coffee. This was a very embarrassing and not a treat for my friends birthday.
We are regulars at the Peacock. The service has always been incredible, they hire amazing people. The food is pub grub cooked deliciously but there’s a specials board with exciting delightful dishes. Classic country pub atmosphere and usually packed, so book to avoid disappointmentFood: 5/5
Sat outside on nice sunny lunchtime . Great food and beer, myself and my father had beef stroganoff wife baked potato with crayfish tails. Beautiful pub with good service from fraindly staff. Would recommend.Food: 5/5
Consistently great. Happy to make the 40 min journey from us to have a great meal. Favourites are chicken liver later, burger and the Sunday roast. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Great country pub, good quality ingredients, and accomplished cooking. Superbly friendly service. Took my parents who are old school fussy and they managed to accommodate perfectly.Food: 5/5
Really quaint and cosy pub - the food was delectable, it really shows how much soul and effort goes into it, so please give my compliments to the chef! Thank you for a lovely lunch Food: 5/5
Lovely pub and with a roaring fire it was very comforting. Only thing was the lack of vegetarian options. One starter and one main. They were delicious but would be good to get another option on there or at least onto the specials board. Vegetarian options: Very limited veggie. No vegan option as far as I could see.
