Old style cinema - so slightly less leg room than some of the modern ones but the staff were friendly and the film was great. I love the atmosphere and they don't rip you off with the ticket price. I'm going to make this my regular cinema and attend regularly.

A beautiful friendly independent cinema. The low numbers of patrons make the viewing experience feel very personal. Snacks are very cheap and the popcorn is delicious. It's very well priced.

Excellent, old style cinema. Half the price of major chain cinemas but with more atmosphere.

I don't think I've ever actually gone to an independent cinema. Certainly not in my adult life. But i am glad that on this occasion I opted to do so. The Palace Cinema is not big, it's not a multiplex and it's not surrounded by complementary experiences such as fast food chains, bowling alleys, etc. But when you really just want to watch a film, you probably don't need all that anyway. The screen size is more than adequate and was every bit the cinema experience provided by larger, national chains. In fact, the picture and sound quality are excellent, thanks to some serious investments in up-to-date equipment. The cinema is equipped to show movies in 3D, although we opted for a 2D showing. Once you are in front of the screen, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a big name cinema. There are definitely advantages to visiting this cinema, or one like it. Despite our visit being on the opening night of one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year, it was very quiet. This is perhaps a little unfortunate for the owners, however there were a plenty of customers, all of whom, including us, had been quickly seated well in advance of the film starting. The ticket price was also less than we would normally expect to pay - two adults watched a film and had plenty of popcorn, for around £20. All in all, the experience was an excellent one and due to the age of the building, it felt more like we were in a theatre than a cinema. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Excellent value local cinema. Clean comfortable, welcoming. Good prices for tickets and refreshments. Up to date showings. Discounted prices some days of the week.
