So happy we eventually decided to stop here, after driving past so often. What a lovely warm inviting place & one we’d definitely return to. The views of the canal are stunning & we enjoyed our meal thank you
Visited The Otter with my family and friends. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of food to enjoy and something for even the pickiest of 10yo’s! The portion size was very generous, after main and pudding we were all full!
11/10. Absolutely amazing food, amazing location and amazing staff. From start to finish we had a fantastic time and will definitely be back for more, even if just for the creme brulé!!! Would highly recommend to everyone and anyone!!
Tried The Otter for the first time on Sunday, unfortunately it'll be the last. The only problem was the food, I had to send the roasties back as neither of us could actually cut into them, they were hard as stones. The replacements weren't any better either, they didn't look like they'd been roasted, looked more like boiled potatoes. But the worst part of it all was the strong taste of grease. Not sure what tasted of it, but it left a disgusting after taste. The meat was delicious, cooked well and very tasty.
Excellent venue, book ahead for food, though staff are friendly and will help you out should you turn up out of the blue. Beth and the team offer a welcoming environment. New staff members Harry served me at the bar, helpful knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is traditional pub / homemade meals such as Hunter's chicken, Roast beef, fish and chips and Venison, thought I'd assume this is seasonal. As much as I'd like to try every meal the venue offers, this is my first visit. There is a nice outdoor canalside terrace and upper balcony areas for Alfresco dining, a central hath log fireplace within the main dining area creating a warm comfortable space to relax and enjoy the ambiance. The building is due for a slight refit in the coming months, moving the toilets upstairs and further renovating the kitchen space. Hoping to be back up this way again soon :- @t2kso
Menu was limited for choice. But food was OK, a little luke warm but not too long a wait and a good price. Atmosphere was odd and lighting was flickering giving it an old fashioned vibe. Quite loud in there as was fully booked. Parking was awful. Spaces are too narrow and people were parked randomly where there were not spaces. Car park was a dead end which made it impossible to park in the dead end spaces.
Beautiful place, amazing service. Only fault is the main portions are small for the price. Dessert saves it completely however. Staff were amazing! Fast paced table service, no faults at all!!
Super place, good atmos and service. I would go again. However, they need to warm the plates. The food was a bit tepid and needs to be piping hot. Also Sirloin is a bit standard and chewy. Not bad but I usually eat better at home Hence, 4 stars. If they started warming the plates properly I would go back. Also other dishes look great as well. So good selection. They also offer pork and beef gravy for different roasts which is a nice touch.
Great value for money here!! Very good service from the moment we arrived and the food was very high quality for the money. I had the beef rib and couldn't fault it. We were served by Amy, she was very pleasant and made sure that we had everything we required. It was raining but the pub is set next to the river Soar so on a better day a table by the river would have been perfect. The Otter has just been refurbished and we have just been back now that it has reopened. I'm pleased to say that the standards are still high with great value for money.
My first visit and definitely not the last. Professional service. Tasty carbonara pizza was perfect. Cosy atmosphere inside the restaurant. Together with friend we were looking for a quiet place to meet in half way. The Otter seemed to meet our expectations and it did. It was good choice. At the end we ordered desserts too. Its’s located close to East Midlands Airport
