We had great time in The Orangery. The room was lovely and very comfortable. Also the outdoors hot tub was such a treat after a long day of travelling in Norfolk. Staff was also very kind and helpful. We'd definitely be returning to The Orangery.
A lovely location in the heart of the countryside. A comfortable room in a complex. We have been here a few times and would recommend it for a short stay.Rooms: 4/5
Comfortable large bed, lovely location, very peaceful and nature on your door stop. No hair dryer, kitchen was nice, not fully fitted. Hot tub soon to be in use outside Rooms: Beds are large, and very comfortable, clean rooms all over..
Id avoid the orangery. We had a weekend stay there back in April and came home after 1 night. It was awful. It came with a continental breakfast and we got, half a loaf of bread, a jar of butter, 4 out of date yoghurts, 4 out of date brioche buns. 2 pints of milk and some weetabix. We were told that it had 2 bedrooms and slept up to 5 people. But when we arrived the second bedroom was locked off and we were told because we were a booking of 3 we didnt need the second room. So me, my wife and our 14 year old son had to share a room. They had a step ladder for you to use to get in and out of the hot tub and there were hundreds of bees nesting in the outside wall. So we couldn't sit outside during the day. It was awful. The grounds itself are beautiful. We were right opposite the horse stables which was nice until they were taken out at 6am. There was a lot of banging around which woke us all up.
Our overall experience of this so called B&B was poor. We booked 2 rooms for 1 night each room costing £134 each plus an extra £30 for our son to stay on a sofa bed which the owner asked to be paid in cash on arrival. We arrived at the agreed time of 4pm when he said he would meet us. However, no owner to be found. We waited, eventually calling the owner but no answer. We ended up letting ourselves into what we guessed was our rooms for the night. Thankfully our bedding was clean but apart from that, the standard’s of cleanliness poor, no teaspoons to make a cup of coffee and a general damp odour in the bedroom and shower room. At least the shower worked well though. However, my main grievance was the breakfast which was left in the room. A small amount of milk left in a bottle which clearly smelled past its best, fruit juice decanted into another bottle, a few slices of bread wrapped in a bread bag, a single yoghurt between 3 people? and some packets of pain en chocolate which were left in our daughter’s room 2 weeks out of date. Obviously, had we realised this when checking in we would of raised this issue with the owner but at 9.15am on departure day decided we would leave and get a decent breakfast elsewhere. Maybe, the owners should also get their fire alarms checked as this went off twice during the early hours. We decided that we would speak to the owner later that day regarding payment of the £30 cash and our concerns regarding the poor standards. However, before we had even arrived home he messaged my daughter who had booked the rooms asking for the £30. She informed the owner that we were disappointed with the standards but said we would pay the extra if he wished even though we were dissatisfied. His reply was completely dismissive. My son in law rang him and paid but asked politely if he could offer any explanation as to why we were given out of date breakfast items and general shortcomings in standards for both rooms. We thought maybe he had a new staff member and he perhaps wasn’t aware of issues and thinking he would be a conscientious proprietor would appreciate the feedback so things could be improved in future. The response we had from him was shocking! My son in law who remained polite was sworn at, told we didn’t know what we were talking about and was told to F*** off. We were shocked that someone who owns an establishment like this had such a lack of professionalism and respect towards his guests. It’s quite obvious that the proprietor has no idea of good customer service, decent manners and is unwilling to accept feedback. Certainly, we won’t be returning nor would recommend his accommodation to others.
The main issue is that you have no toilet privacy from whoever else is in the bedroom, as the partition doesn't have complete walls so you can hear/smell everything! There is a bedroom window with no blind, so you'll be woken up with daylight at 6am. Pretty major problem, as I'm writing this review sleep deprived after a 2 night stay. Breakfast is cereal/ toast which you make yourself unfortunately however our milk was out of date so we left with no breakfast. I contacted the hosts during the stay to find a solution to the bathroom issue but my email was not responded to during our stay. Guests are expected to have time to sort out problems when in reality we don't.
We stayed as a family spanning 3 generations for four nights. Stayed in The Orangery. Very clean and COVID aware. 2 bedrooms, one with a huge superking bed and other set up as a twin as requested. Two bathrooms and a FULLY equipped kitchen. Also had own lounge, dining area. Very comfortable for cosy nights in. Made use of the hot tub too and spent a couple of nights star gazing! Wonderful! Set in beautiful gardens adjacent to a larger barn. We had breakfast supplied daily, including fresh milk cereals, yogurts, pastries and home made jam and marmalade. The proprietors were available if needed not needed, but very unobtrusive! We well definitely be visiting again but with the rest of our family, so will be booking The Barn! Thank you The Orangery, hope to be back next year.
Amazing place with just breathtaking views. Richard and Victoria, I cannot even begin to describe how amazing they are! I would love to stay again! Breakfast was amazing and so was the tea and coffee provided! If you ever need somewhere to stay then please book here and you will not be disappointed!
Stopped in the cottage with hot tub, didn't book this originally but when we arrived room booked was not as expected so we paid extra for the cottage. Was not as clean as would of liked but possibly not thoroughly cleaned as was not booked. Lady owner so kind and helpful, nothing to much trouble. A little in the middle of knowwhere but a nice place for visiting, cromer, sheringham and Yarmouth
We stayed for one nightwhich was a shame as its a little gem. It was everything we needed and more. We stayed in the oxbridge suit a cottage all to ourselves amazing The hot tub was a big hit with the daughter. Thank you for a wonderful stay
