This used to be such a great fish & chip shop! I don’t know what has happened but no one really has a clue what’s going on! The pie, mash and liquor is horrendous! They forget something literally every time you place an order on the phone, they tell you 10 minuets I waited nearly half hour even tho all of my food was ready and under the heat lamp it seems it takes half hour to make curry sauce? I won’t be going back

25mins for fishcake and chips! WHY. I could see the chips and can see the fishcake. My order is placed... Six people then order behind me with pie and mash/burgers etc...ALL 6 receive there food before me and sit to eat or takeaway. The staff have not got a clue who's ordered and when. So after the wait which I don't mind, the foods going to be be great yeah? No horrendous, chips were old and brown. Fishcake could be used as a frisbee. But we all carrying on using this chip shop because there's nothing else around. Hopefully as Ongar expands we might get a better selection of lunch time takeaways.

Fancy packaging, poor quality fish, very hard batter, crunchy overcooked chips. You would be better off with basic fish fingers and a baked potato cooked in your oven. Don't waste your time and money.

30 minutes to cook a burger, then they threw a load of fancy rocket salad and stuff in with it and used some dodgy bun to put it all in. Looked nice, tasted like rubbish. Been there once, will never return. Cod was battered in some sort of spring roll batter and was literally dripping grease from it. Everything seems to go into the look, not the taste. Yea it looks nice, but you are paying for a meal that you can eat, not look at. Good service, albeit very slow, nice looking food, but doesn't taste all that.

Was here lunchtime 5 October. I was suspicious when there was nothing in the fryer. The girl went out the back to get my fish and chips. When I got home and ate it, it was disgusting. Obviously microwaved . Chips were dried up and batter was soggy. Yuk!
