Our experience at Smiths restaurant was fantastic for a special anniversary. Great team of serving/bar staff/front of house and amazing choice of food. Allergies were catered for with a great importance for which I was very grateful for. Food was wonderful! Looking forward to another visit very soon
Food always very nice here, even cater for gluten free including bread which is always a nice touch! Only gripe is sometimes the waiter/waitresses can continually try and up-sell you drinks when you’ve already said no.. Would definitely recommend though for a nice occasion - went out of their way to provide a birthday plate / ice cream surprise!
Love this place, fab cocktails, delicious food, good vino & great service. Top marks all round. We will be back !
Smith's of Ongar, it's an institution. Excellent food, top notch service. Always busy, and rightfully so. If you're having a celebration dinner, you'll be in good hands. Parking: Just about enough parking outside in their own car park.

Took my future in-laws and my parents there for first meeting. Great staff , very good food and pleasant atmosphere. We've had fish , salmon was very good. Portions were well balanced with vegetables. Dessert was very good too. Upstairs bar was pleasant. I'm thankful that they don't let kids in.Food: 5/5

Lovely place, beautiful food, steak to die for! Nothing is too much trouble. Amazingly attentive staff, great atmosphere. Very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Had a great birthday there!!
Ordered Cod and chips, the mashed peas were the best I ever had, chips were good the portion of cod could of been a bit bigger. Overall, I'm happy. I didn't book, and the staff squeezed me in.Food: 4/5
