My girlfriend and I visited the Olde Coach House for some food and drinks in the beer garden, and we had a great time. The selection of beers/ales was great. The food was really nice, it was proper home-made food, and the chips were especially delicious! The menu options were great too, we'll defo be back to try some of the other dishes. The staff were also very friendly, especially Helen and Chloe. Plus it's dog-friendly, which is great. Recommended!
Below is a list of all the problems we encountered during our stay : Room 1 : no bath mat, shortage of towels, only 1 hanger, broken windows, no glasses, no hooks to hang up towels, plates instead of saucers and most importantly NO HOT WATER! The hot water in the shower was finally sorted late that evening in the meantime, my friend had to come and use my shower!, but there was still no hot water from the taps. Room 3 : no bath mat, shortage of towels I was told that the hotel was awaiting a delivery and that someone would bring me some - that was only resolved as I went to bed that evening, I had to ask twice and wait 3 hours for an iron and ironing board. No hooks etc. Bar : I asked for a gin and tonic, which was served without lemon. I had to ask twice to get some. We overheard the staff discussing the fact that the kitchen just couldn't cope and not to take any more bookings apart from guests staying. Then, whilst taking a food order from another guest, we understood that half of the menu items were not available. Restaurant : we ordered from the very limited menu. There weren't even any starters. Almost everything was served with chips! We asked for the wine list which never arrived, we had to go and get it ourselves - extremely disappointing!!! This is the text from Therugbytown.Co.UK, which is clearly grossly incorrect! : Description Tucked away in the quiet village of Ashby St Ledgers we are still on the doorstep, so if you are popping in for a drink or a meal it will be well worth the visit. We have built up an enviable reputation for our fresh food which includes our famous grazing boards, hanging kebabs, homemade pizzas, old comforts, homemade burgers, great steaks and homemade puds. The menu is the same in our contemporary restaurant or in our bar with its flagstone floors, low beams and open fires. We have recently won the CASK MARQUE ACCREDITATION for our cask ales and we also have a stunning selection of wines from around the world. You can enjoy a freshly made brew and choose from our coffee menu from a herbal tea to a latte. Thankfully the wine and steak were fine, but I was unable to eat mine, as it was food clearly taken from the freezer and thrown in the deep fat fryer, which is vile. We had to move our table, as the noise coming from the kitchen was so loud rock music and singing! we couldn't hold a conversation. I must, however, praise the two bar staff members who were running around trying to cope with everything and were extremely friendly and helpful within the limits of the difficulties described Breakfast!!! Which was supposed to be served 8am until 10am. At 7.50 we arrived in the restaurant along with 6 other guests to find all the lights out and no staff. At 8am, still no-one had arrived, so we managed to find a light switch and saw some cereal in the corner. That was all! No milk, no tea or coffee, nothing!! We had to go into the kitchen to search for something!! Without success, so every guest went away without being able to eat or drink. An absolute disgrace! I sent an email explaining our dissatisfaction and a week later, I still have had no response. The pub is in a beautiful location and it is such a shame. With good management and chef, it could be idyllic. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Didn’t stay here however booked for my fiancé’s birthday towards end of September. Food was good when it finally came out after waiting a solid hour for starters with no one coming to tell us what was going on. When I did ask, they said it was down to a ticket error in the kitchen which is fine…but communicate that with us! Not just leave us to dry! Food was great - service not so much. Shame as this was a really good place before them doing it up..pizzas were really good! Luckily we had 30% off and also discounted drinks so appreciate that, but would rather pay full price to a local place.
This is a lovely place to stay. Beautiful, quiet location and very handy for Silverstone, Rugby, Leamington Spa etc. The room my husband and I stayed in was in the quaint old part of the inn, access gained by a quirky staircase. The room had a stunning view and was large, light and airy. The shower was fantastic and there were nice complementary smellies. We could have done with more milk for coffees but that may be just us. The four poster bed gave a traditional ambience but beware those over 6' as my husband kept bashing his head on it when getting into bed or doing anything nearby!! ;- We did have to wait a fair while before food arrived due to staff shortages but the food was fine, reasonably priced and decent portions. Checking in was quick and easy and Tom was very patient and directed me to the room. Finally a big "well done" has to be said to Claire who managed to keep a smile on her face dealing with everyone's breakfast orders on her own.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Rooms are lovely. The 3 meals I had was honestly the 3 best meals iv ever had mixed grill very good. 16oz t-bone was cooked so well and so tasty and then the fish and chips was the best iv ever had even better than a chipy by the sea. So fresh and massive portions. Would recommend to anyone and everyone
A get together with old friends for bank holiday lunch, we sat early to try and reduce pressure. The young staff were really trying hard, the beer was good, salmon overcooked and the gravy on the roast dinner was way too sweet. Being short staffed meant everything was slow but we had time. The management needs to take a close look at the operation to provide a better experience.
First time back here in over 24 months for me and it was well worth the wait. The staff here clearly enjoy their jobs and are attentive, helpful and eager to find out how we're doing. Each time, we had nothing but positive feedback. The food was delicious and well presented and despite a shorter Sunday roast based menu for Father's Day there was absolutely something tasty for everyone, including the kids 9 and 5 years old. The waiting and kitchen staff/chef were happy to adjust dishes to suit our fussy little ones. Bravo OCH and thank you. We'll see you again very soon!
Beautiful location. Rooms are really nice but could be better equipped. Had no towels so had to help myself to the ones which seem to be left in bags at bottom of stairs. Had food a starter and main. The starter was nice but the steak pie was so salty it was inedible. I Informed young lady serving and all I got was. " oh ok I am sorry " no offer of anything else. No return of money just that. I am.not surprised at the comments regarding this place. There is a clear lack of management and professionalism all around. How it is still in buisness I have no idea.
We haven’t actually stayed here yet! but I wanted to post a review about our lovely experience with the new owners, Lauren and Dan this morning. We went in to book some rooms for family and friends to stay in for an event next month and were incredibly impressed with the fabulous new decor as well as the lovely welcome we received from Lauren. She was very patient with us showing us a variety of rooms all of which are beautifully decorated with lovely bathrooms, and talking through different options. We enjoyed a lovely drink in the amazingly styled bar afterwards and were again impressed with a lovely lady serving Abbey and the general atmosphere. The food menus look fantastic and a new prix fixe menu just being printed which looked amazing and we’re definitely going to try this soon! We left feeling very confident that our guests will be really well looked after in a gorgeous village setting, and look forward to getting to know Lauren and Dan more and enjoy many days & nights! eating drinking and being merry We really wish them the best of luck -go along and have a look for yourself it’s fab!
We went for lunch with friends with toddlers and babies and had a wonderful experience. The staff were really friendly, helpful and accommodating and managed to put us in a side room to make life easier with the toddlers. The food was also delicious and it was all so reasonably priced. A great option and super family friendly. And we will be going back again despite it being an hour and a half from home!
