Popped in for a quick drink. Friendly welcome by the locals Real ale was well kept. Fab pictures of the area in victorian times
Decent pub, nice large outside space and dog friendly. 5 ales on, good range of colours and types. Ale well kept and good price. Ales not particularly local but were from a range of breweries you don't often see.
Nice conversion. Friendly bar staff and proper local pint from Colchester Brewery. Only criticism was the sad litter in the hedges.
Could be a really good real ale place. Beers are certainly well prepared but the square, almost like social club decor lets it down. Food only on Wednesday and Sunday.Service: 5/5
Nice friendly pub with a fairly good selection of local beers. I'm partially disabled and have to use a crutch when walking. As it was a warm early evening , I wanted to sit outside, so someone kindly took my drink out for me, which I appreciated. Will visit again next time I'm in Clacton.
Quality real ale pub. Friendly landlord and locals. Choice of four on my visit. Èxcellent place. Highly RecommendedService: 5/5
Lovely cosy pub, though it did have a spacious marquee outside at the time. Very friendly staff! Made us feel very welcome. Price point of drinks was good. Really glad we stopped in here before heading back to the guesthouse.
A nice pub .Not one that unless you googled it looking for ale or pubs in general. No external sign saying it's a pub. Has a gazebo/ tent covering at the front giving extra cover area at the front. No a large pub by any standard , but bigger then cozy. On my visit they had 4 of 5 ales on . Proper job, silver adder, wherry and Colchester brewery's Jack salty I think. Abbot was of ! , which to me was no great lose not a massive greedie king ale fan myself. They had to normal lagers on didn't notice if they had a strong larger on though !. Handy that they take card payments as well as cash . Easy to find once you know were it is . Walked along the front towards Holland on sea, turn left at the Aylesford sign , the pub is on the right . Will revisit upon m6 next visit .
Had a lovely chat with the owner....a very friendly pub has has close links to the RNLI... Serves mostly locals and has a nice atmosphere/ambience about it...not a large pub by anymeans, but if you fancy a game of darts then this has one. Been popping into this pub over the last 20 years as we are from the midlands and come down to Clacton on a regular basis to visit family... Cheers to the Old Lighthouse..
Great selection of drinks and people very friendly but a bit noisy with the busy road outside if you want to sit outside
