During our holiday we ate at several pubs, but this was by far our favourite. The menu was varied, the food was delicious and the service was excellent, so friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is beautiful and charming. This was a great English pub experience. Our advice for ordering: nachos is big enough to share between two! We went back to this pub three times. Just delightful!
Went for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised by the choice on offer. Lunch menu was very reasonably priced and the portions were large. Good children's options also. Good vibe inside the pub, nice 'old pub' feel. Service was fantastic. Will definitely return for food and/or drinks.
Wonderful hospitality, flavoursome food and served piping hot. Average meal £18-20. The one thing I would recommend is to make the restaurant more welcoming and cosy dimmed lighting, candles and blinds or curtains on all the windows. Nevertheless, we will definitely return.
This pub looks lovely from the outside but turned out to be a disappointment. Inside it feels sterile and completely lacking in atmosphere. On the plus side, the mulled wine was good but unfortunately it couldn't compensate for the stark white walls and bare wooden floor.Service: 3/5
One of the bests roasts I've ever had. From meat to veg all top notch. Very welcoming staff and despite us constantly calling to say we were delayed they were lovely and accomodating.
Absolutely shocking and disgusting behaviour today from the owner/manager 02/10/22 My partner was enjoying a roast dinner and a shandy today in the Old Bell. We have visited on a number of occasions and always had a really lovely time and enjoyed all the food and drinks we have been served. This has made what happened today even more shocking! My partner suddenly became dizzy, confused, his heart was pounding and he immediately had to sit on the floor as he felt like he was going to faint. His hands started to feel numb and he started sweating profusely. He was clearly in distress and a staff member approached to ask if he needed some water and an ambulance. My partners phone had gone flat and so he did ask for an ambulance. To note: he is currently in a wheelchair and uses crutches as he ripped his calf muscle, his physio has advised him to rest his leg and use aids where possible hence why he was in a wheelchair. The owner came out and asked her staff member to go back Inside and told my partner to go home and said she would not call an ambulance. He was clearly in distress and was unable to move. Luckily my partners brother had turned up and was able to deal with the situation and take him home to ring an ambulance. What if this has been a heart attack? Or an asthma attack? Where is your duty of care for your customers? I will not be visiting this pub again after what has happened today.
Had two roast beef dinners. The beef was cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed the whole experience dining at the old bell. Staff are warm and welcoming and very attentive.
Had Sunday lunch here after a 4 mile group walk, food and service was excellent, Daniela the host was most accommodating and fitted 14 walkers in at last minute, nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb, highly recommended, Really good for breakfast and lunch as well as great cup of coffee.Service: 5/5
Excellent country pub. New owners - Great food at a decent price & very good ale Rebellion IPA all immaculately clean. Very friendly helpful staff, and the outdoor area is lovely. Tonight they had live music with a pianist & singer - excellent! Love it
First time to visit here after seeing great recommendations. Family lunch for 4 adults and 2 small children. Staff could not have been more welcoming . Also so attentive throughout our visit we were there almost 4 hours having moved after eating to continue drinking in the garden. Great choice of food dishes and a very good selection of wines. Food was fresh, very tasty and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be returning to visit again.
